I have no idea what's causing unknown usb device: device descriptor request failed. it seems to be something on my usb hub, but each device behaves normally, and this message doesn't disappear if I unplug everything.

This is actually pretty common problem usually a driver or detection problem possible dirty contact pins.

Basically need a more direct connection etc USB Ports on Mainboard not Case Ports or external hubs.

Maybe even loose solder points via hubs etc.

I occasionally get same error now and then with HDDs maybe not reading/i itialize properly or fast enough may get the this device can run faster if you connect to a USB2. 0/3.0 port.

Safely Remove/Eject before unplug and try again.
Sometimes a Reset maybe necessary just to rectify I know how annoying it can be.
