Entertainment Weekly has blown the cover off Nathan Drake's latest adventure for the PlayStation 3.
The magazine has a sneak peek at Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, which will hit stores in 2011.
The third chapter in the Uncharted series explores Drake's relationship with Sully, reads the report, as they search for a legendary lost city on the Arabian Peninsula.
Amy Hennig, creative director of Uncharted creators Naughty Dog, tells the magazine the team was inspired by the challenge of creating an action game within a desert environment.
"When we first came up with the idea of sand, you see everyone's eyes light up here and go, 'Yeah, that's going to be really hard — let's do it!'," Hennig tells EW.
New wrinkles to Uncharted's gameplay include "enhanced backwards climbing" and an expansion of the series' cooperative and multiplayer elements, most of which were introduced in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
Uncharted seems to have turned into the PlayStation 3's signature franchise, following the 2009 release of Uncharted 2. As I noted in my review, it was -- and still is -- the PS3's best game.
And guess when readers can view the first trailer for Uncharted 3? During the Spike Video Game Awards this Saturday.
