I recently bought a $5 pc with a core 2 duo, I added 3 gb of ram to make 4gb. I got a amd radeon 8490 for the gpu for $10-ish and it runs really well definitely a low end gaming rig!

Pretty sure i did that already. Turned an Atlhon 2 x2 into a gaming rig
Had an Atlhon 2 x2 and replaced that with a Phenom 2 x6
GT 240 replaced by a GTS450 before being replaced by a GTX680
2GB of DDR2 RAM and now has 8GB
It was definitely a fun project to take a potato and turn it into a gaming rig.
