So I am trying out Ubuntu atm. But it is just being tested... While on a CD. Never really had enough hard drive space to get it to fit on my HDD...

So now, I am gonna install my other 40GB HDD onto my computer, but Ubuntu on it, and I will be so pro xDD

I like it... Very clean... And so far, not buggy. Just looking for a Messenger now... Wonder if Windows Live is gonna work...?

lool. Thanks. I got off of it. Since now, I am gonna get into installing my new HDD ^^.

Then gonna put all my game programs, Ubuntu and other stuff onto it.

Question, can I choose which OS to boot? Ubuntu or XP? Or is it not possible... ?

yes, just install ubuntu last and it will install a menu (or bootloader, called grub, to be technical) that lets you choose what OS to boot when your computer boots up. (it will normally boot ubuntu after 10 seconds by default)

Actually I remember Ubuntu being a lot cleaner than mint.

It's (for me) the best Linux-System, I love it

. I first also had some problems with Sudo, etc..., but the great community helped me

. It's also great that you can update from 8.X to 9.X, etc. without loosing data...hope Microsoft learns that some days

. I realy love it, it runs smoother than Vista, and it's fast on my Netbook. Sadly 9.04 has some problems with my Video, so I'll stuck with Vista until that is fixed...but never had a problem or a shutdown in two years...

P.s: A good Messenger is aMSN, a nice looking MSN-Clone...very nice

.

Hmm... Than what do you recommend that is free? I personally like Ubuntu and just looking at it makes me feel good. Considering it is really clean and nice.

I am getting Linux Mint right now. Downloading it, then gonna burn it onto a DVD.

What's the difference between Linux Mint 6 and Linux Mint 5 LTC? I want the one that'll be maintained the longest x3. But it seems to be the LTC one...? What is the difference?

really? I've been using Linux of some form or another for like 6-7 years. Started on Slackware but got hooked on Debian due to package management. I have ubuntu on my brother's laptop which is great because he is not really a hardcore linux user.

mint is just a slightly tweaked ubuntu with a (over) simplified interface.

package installation takes forever on gentoo, and it can be a lot harder to setup

stick with ubuntu, it is the best easy to use distro. people tend to just bash it because its "popular"
