Okay so after going into maintenance mode (and not click on anything, just turning it off again - stuck on black screen. It had a full battery. With or without microSD card inserted, same response.

Seems like things are deteriorating rapidly. Maintenance mode just kinda resets everything. As long as you don’t execute step 3 it’s a benign process.

Let’s work on getting you back to square one at least.

Hold the power button for 12+ seconds to get everything turned off properly and restart. Hoping this will at least get us back to being able to get the initial injection.

let me know exactly what it does after that…any lights, flashes, logos, noises…anything at all when you hit the power button.

Nope, not plugged in.

Without any feedback from the Switch whatsoever, we’re in a weird spot. It’s got to be something fundamental to not be getting any power at all.

I think it’s time to pop the back cover off and look under the heat shield for what’s stopping us from getting any spark.

I’d start with the battery. Check to make sure it’s plugged in, not damaged or puffy…that sort of thing. If you have a multimeter, check the power to make sure it’s within spec.

Next I’d look at the Power/Volume ribbon cable. Same thing, make sure it’s plugged in, not damaged, etc.

Should also look at the Trinket. Make sure it’s not shorting on the base it’s sitting on. All solder joints are still in place. Nothing smokey. That sort of thing.

Well I got it fixed - turns out the Trinket was toast, and they were able to replace it, and then get a fresh emuNAND due to whatever was going wrong with it.

Thankfully the MicroSD card was fine.

So now... I'm on 9.1.0 AMS 1.3.2. E I would still like to update to 14.x - Is Daybreak still the answer? How can I do my best to ensure I don't hose my setup again?

Daybreak is correct. Darthsternie Firmware is a good find.

Once that’s sorted, just follow this: https://rentry.org/UpgradeDowngrade
