other than getting your rom size smaller, is there any negative parts?
like do they take away any essential part of the rom? do games have a higher chance of crashing when you trim them?
or do they play exactly the same?

and also why do different roms trim different sizes?
FF3 goes from 128 to 100
Dragon Quest Monster Joker goes from 128 to 83
Jump Ultimate stars goes from 64 to 62 o_O

No. Not that I've ever seen.

Trimming just removes unused space from the rom. Most games do not completely fill the rom chip they are stored on, and the amount of unused space depends entirely on the game.
