Transferring video from DV tapes?

the PowerShot SX160 seams like it will be a ok camera for home videos and such. even with 720p its never going to be perfect.
i use a fujifilm finepix s2950 it cost me $214 altogether with tax w/o memory card. got it because its kind of like a SLR and it would let me take Panorama pictures and i needed that for school, alot more easier than photoshopping 3 or 4 picture together for school(for my grade) and because it has a very long zoom.
it also take 720p but it has a weird hissing sound because the mic is next to the lens motor so i have to use audacity to remove it and if there is not alot of light the video gets a little fuzzy

As for the foxes. i will try to learn about it a little more

its a big picture

One thing's for sure, the PowerShot is a crap load better quality-wise than my current camera, and better for video than the dv camera I'm borrowing (not surprising, since that sucker's from 2007). Don't really have a super high budget so the SX160 or 170 models will be more than sufficient for my needs of taking pics and recording my interactions with fluffy foxes, plus I'm biased towards Japanese electronics :P

That Fujifilm one looks pretty sick, and it's on sale right now (I think) lol

I should have another check or so by then, but yeah, Black Friday will be a good day. DV just isn't going to get any better than it already is given the technology cameras use for storage now.

I tested video capturing on PC today, using WInDV and Windows Movie Maker. There is no stuttering or tearing.

So it could be the head is dirty.
