Hi

need some help here.

So right now I have:

a Switch running 8.1 and CFW using a 128GB SD card

a back up of a clean NAND (8.1)

a new 256GB SD card.

So what I mainly want to do is restore the sysnand to the clean back up,

get EmuMMC (using Hekete) on the 256GB,

be safe about the clean NAND not being corrupted,

keep my installed NSP and saves.

These are the steps I'm thinking of taking:

I create the EmuMMC on the 256GB SD now before restoring to the clean NAND,
as it will get compromised anyway.
I expect this should keep my saves and and point the system to look for games in SD card I have installed right now.

I backup the (compromised) NAND I have now as well, just in case my clean NAND is corrupted (onto 256GB card)

Restore the SysNAND to clean 1.

copy everything from 128GB card over to the 256GB card large partition,

then copy the needed Hekete files over as well

Is this a safe way to do it?
If my clean NAND is corrupted I can retry to restore from another backup correct?
it shouldn't brick the Switch that it cant even go into RCM mode right?

Would I need to backup the compromised NAND?
or is there a way to overwrite/restore the SYSNAND using the EmuMMC?

If the SYSNAND restore failed and get corrupted,
I can still run the Switch with EmuMMC, correct?

What about my games and saves? would this keep my games in EmuMMC,
or do I actually need to use checkpoint, or maybe reinstall the game 1 by 1?

any advice, pointers would be very much appreciated

Thanks

It seems like you know what you're doing. If you want a clean sysNAND for online play, and a dirty emuNAND for hackery, do the following:
  1. Using Hekate, make a backup of your dirty NAND. Put it somewhere safe.
  2. Create an emuNAND using your dirty sysNAND (using your new SD card).
  3. Transfer all of your files to your new SD card.
  4. Using Hekate, restore your clean NAND to the sysNAND.
You should keep the emuNAND offline. If you are paranoid, install Incognito and/or 90DNS to the dirty emuNAND.
If your clean NAND backup is corrupt, you can restore a different backup.
