Hardware transfer content from sd cards?

I want to buy fire emblem on the eshop but I dont have enough space. If I bought a new sd card is it possible to transfer all my 3ds games (animal crossing new leaf), virtual console games, save content, etc from one to another?

Yes. As long as it is going back into the same Nintendo 3DS console.

Always keep a back up stored somewhere though. I tried it once, and it didn't work for some reason, then I just recopied it and it was fine.

I have just copied it over and nothing works, but blocks are used up from the new sd card.....

I am currently formatting the card and going to try again...

And it worked! my problem the first time was I inserted the sd card to make sure it was compatible and it generated a Nintendo 3DS folder. I just copied everything over and there probably were some extra things that messed with it when the folders merged
