Is it possible to swap games or buy second-hand games for Switch, or is the cartridge tied to someone else's account once they've played with it?

The only thing that may be tied to someone else's account, are the Gold Points you can redeem for physical copies.
Playing the games are totally fine tho

You shouldn't dump the games because every single cartridge contains indivdual code.
Playing these may not only ban you, but all other who played this dump online
I never mentioned dumping. But since you bring it up, if carts contain unique identifiers, how can it ever be safe to buy second-hand games?

So what stops you installing the game on hundreds of switches using one cart?
Playing a cart on a Switch doesn't install the game to the system, it just makes an icon and savedata - the game code/data is still loaded from the cart. So you can do that on any number of Switches, but you can only actually play the game on whichever one currently has the cart in.

Sounds like a similar idea someone posted some time ago.
As stated before, unless you are dumping a game you can't install a game from a cart.
