TouchTest DS

This is my first EVER DS homebrew!
What this app does is help diagnose the touchscreen. It will show the X and Y axis of the stylus' touch point, and will emit a sound when the touch screen is pressed.

NEW: 1.2 is here! Go grab a copy at DSDatabase.

It's rather bland at the moment, as it is my first ever homebrew, but I'll see if I can make it a bit more colorful later.

Download 1.2

nice for your first homebrew.
biggrin.gif

my touch screen is uncalibrateable and is off by about half a centimetre XD.
but this finds the exact place ot os touched no matter hpw dodgy your touch screen is XD

now only if it could calibrate my touch screen XD

Thanks for the response!

Sadly to say, the only way to calibrate your touchscreen would be to go through the calibrate loop over, and over.

it wouldnt calibrate like that would it then haha.

what you got planned on your next homebrew?

i dont think you need colour for TOuchTestDS. its nice as it is. simple as it should be.

I'm currently debugging a newer version of touchtest, I think i'll move onto something new after I smush the bug.

no matter how messed up your touch screen was, this WILL always find the correct co-ordinate where you are touching. i had a messed up touch screen and this found everywhere i touched perfectly as it should. i bought a new touch screen and i replaced it.

What? So your DS touch screen was severely messed up and not finding the points you were touching correctly...and this somehow did? Defying all possible problems with the touchscreen and cables it found the exact point you were touching and not the point read by every single other game?

I'm not bashing the program just wondering what on earth Nicky is on about

yea its exatcly what you said. it IS hard to believe XD. if all homebrew had implemented this then people woth messed up touch screens could work the homebrew fine. (well for the first release anyway. ive not tried the second release. my touch screen is replaced and now its perfect so i cant try the newer release with using a messed up touch screen.

I can tell you that it does not perform the impossible on my sister's DSlite's slightly off in the centre touch screen (which is down to a hardware issue as far as I can tell)

try the first release. i used the first release. it doesnt show the point on the touchscreen but look at the co-ordinates on the top. when i used it it registered it correctly.

calibration fail?

try running 1.2

That's the version I ran (as numbers mean nothing to me) It comes up as correct along the sides and to the right and slightly up in the centre. Just the same as every other game sees it. Its not a calibration issue but a damaged touch screen. If the calibration is off you can just go through the calibration loop in the DS firmware to fix, this doesn't work in my sister's DS as when i tap the central icon it doesn't see it as me tapping the central icon but instead tapping elsewhere.

If it can't be calibrated its a hardware issue and this shouldn't see it as exactly where you are tapping which is why Nicky is really confusing me... Please don't see this as me ragging on your app, I couldn't code this (since I have no clue where I would start)

sorry for confusing you.

mine couldnt be calibrated either and i used this and it registered correctly. i got fed up with the touchscreen so i bought a new one.

read my previous post. try verion 1.0.

Is it possible you just misunderstood the coordinates? To me they really don't mean anything and could be referring to where I'm tapping or anywhere else on the screen (unless I have the urge to count every single pixel)
