i wanna know how safe are torrents and how easy is it to gettin trouble for downloading a torrent?

i want download a torrent of metroid prime collection

Just downloading, not much of a risk. Seeding copyrighted files, especially large numbers, could get you in trouble. Also, always virus scan archives and downloaded files before opening them.

now seeding is sharing wit others right? is there a way to stop seeding if not how do i turn it to the minimum setting for bittorrent

i got caught once downloading sims 2 (regret it it was utter crap) my internet provider warned me if they see me sharing again they will close my internet down.

After the torrent is done downloading, just hit the stop button, or delete torrent button to stop seeding.

so there is no way to lower or stopseeding?

IIRC it stops seeding if you remove the torrent from your BitTorrent window/queue.. Dont really know.. But people dont really care if you torrent or not

While downloading, set the upload priority to as slow as possible, which is around 2 kbps, and as soon as the download is done, hit the stop button.

Your internet provider shouldn't be looking at the kind of files you are downloading, only if it is asked for.

Are you a registered criminal, perhaps?

no aint got no record of me so in theory i could take any legal action against my internet provider for looking into that with no sort of warrant or reason what so ever

that is good to know thanks if they do try any thing i will throw that in their face and they will probably back off before i actualy take any legal action. (thats how they are no bite all bark)

I've been using torrents for a long time and I haven't been caught. *knocks on wood*
But just do what everybody else says, download the file(s) then as soon as it's done stop it from seeding.
Also, you do seed while you download but you don't seed as much so set your upload speed to a low setting.

Most ISP shouldn't give a shit if you're a bigger pirate than Black Beard himself. They get a paycheck every month, unless the corporations can cover the cost of millions of pirates paying their monthly bill they shouldn't try stopping them. Or at least that's what I believe. Plus it's useless to go after downloaders, the main people who get the blunt of anti-piracy court cases and crackdowns are uploaders and seeders. It's like taking care of weeds in your driveway. You can cut them with a pair of scissors when they get too long but they'll just keep growing back. If you want to get rid of them you're gonna have to dig it out from the roots.

I only started heavy pirating about a year or two ago and haven't gotten a single letter or what not from the ISP saying I should stop.

Just a tip: always look in the comments to see if what you're downloading is the real deal or not. There are plenty of torrents with malware out there.

Sometimes I start thinking that the same companies(Owner's of the files of whatever) are the one whom create all this fake torrents, virus, Malaware, worms & Trojans. This is all a conspiracy to make money out of everything and everyone. Use a low upload setting and always try to remove the torrent from Bittorrent after you have downloaded it.
