one could say we have to watch out for gbatemp now too with the indecent amount of ads that are being forced into the website. spyware and vulnerabilities can be implemented and taken advantage of through these garbage ad systems that gbatemp is using.

This is one of the many examples of enshittification of software (especially browsers) and online services. When I read this a few days ago… I just thought… *facepalm*.

Sadly niche browsers and forks aren't a real solution. They tend to be late on porting security patches, they tend to die at some point and they tend to fragment. Choosing a browser nowadays is finding the least stinking turd in a row.

Yeah right now I’m seeing so many ads here, my page I’m viewing sometimes is refreshing while I’m scrolling.

The tackiest part about it is how they are ads promoting softcore porn tv and other nonsense that has nothing to do with a gaming site. its worse than ign imo and is definitely going to lead toward less people viewing the site.

one of the worst thing gbatemp has done imo. selling their soul for a few bucks

Yeah i literally had to switch my browser to brave just so i could see the site due to ads blocking 90% of my screen and following when i scroll.

One of my biggest pet-peeves is having ads delivered by 3rd party ad-servers, which is basically injecting shit into my browser.

I use Firefox along with Ublock Origin, and a VPN that blocks a ton of crap...I don't really see any ads at all, thank god.
