Hardware To update or not?

Hi everyone, I've recently purchased a 3ds xl and it's firmware is 6.0.1. Should i update to the latest version since it's does not meet requirement to run the gateway flashcart anyway, or should I not in hopes of some breakthrough in the future? Also, what are the benefits of having the latest nintendo firmware? Thanks!

It is not wise to update if you want to use future flashcart that might be able to run on firmware 6.0.1
There is no real benefit to having latest nintendo firmware except for more security that prevent flashcart from running

I'm somehow doubtful that there will be a future exploit for later version, I might be wrong if you wanted to use a flash card I wouldn't hold your breath for the future. Might be worth just selling it on and buying a 4.5 ds. Updating would allow you to play online and access the eshop and stuff though
