xmr is (intended as) the replacement to bitcoin


xmr for one was designed firstly as a way to combat gpu and asic mining

also xmr is much more secure, it uses an encrypted ledger, also uses ring signatures, its completely untraceable

as of now there is no way one can be de-anonymized when using monero

its much more stable, compare any other crypto, when btc drops everything else does, monero typically is the last to drop

plus monero is designed so that one can easily convert btc to monero, via atomic swaps

XMR seems to keep pace with Bitcoin, it's the preferred currency of black market purchases so it has that going for it.

People are always going to want an anonymous method of paying for drugs so it has a strong audience.
