AFAIK there is no "bad" MS, only better ones. So it looks to be a good one.

Well, I bought a similar one off ebay. When the item reaches me, i've tested it and MagicGate is not performing. I contacted the seller and he's willing to refund the purchase (when I ship the item back to him). I wouldn't say it's fake but rather MagicGate is not supported.
One just have to be careful with online purchases.

Press Triangle at the Memory Stick icon in the XMB. If it has MagicGate and all the space is usable, it's real, if not, it's a fake.

Well I got owned.

Contacted the seller but I haven't got any response from him/her. God of War runs "normal" on it. Kinda like my 4 gig sandisk so I am not really all that pissed about it. Haven't tested FFVII CC on it cause of the transfer time is garbage. I think it took 8+mins to get GoW(1.5 gig ISO) in.

Could you tell us whether it passed the "magicgate" test?

Basically it's very safe to say at least 95% of memory sticks on ebay are fake. I think it'd be actually closer to 99% =P
(There are different names to indicate fake. Anything along the lines of "bulk" are fake, OEM means fake, "official retail packaging" means fake, etc.)

Fake sticks have lower quality prints, both printings on MS and MS adapter are blurry.
And ultimately anything that fails the MagicGate is fake.

On rare occasions you could end up with a bulk that are actually authentic memory sticks just in bulk. But usually those items do not end up in retailers or consumers hands.

I have the same one,it works perfect. When in the memory stick information section it doesn't have that picture though yours could be fake.

SOme of these are also smaller capacity cards which have a special filesystem to make them larger.

Been testing the card out. Crisis Core JPN/US ISO and CSO work normal. No lag what so ever. God of War ISO doesn't lag, CSO on the other hand has some hiccups here and there. Think FFT, some spells lag no matter what kind of memory stick you have. All my other CSO work at game speed nothing to ***** about. The only main problem with this card is it's transfer speed. Getting any 1.5gig game in takes at least 10 minutes.

FFT spells lag even if you play with official UMD on official firmware. Don't think there's a fix for that besides overclocking the PSP itself.
