Searching around on the internet (listen up Neimod), I found a suitable "exploit" for these Mario games for DS:
    New Super Mario Bros. (Easy)
    Super Mario 64 DS (Hard)
Now before you all go rogue again with the world famous comments of "Hey, this is not a hack," or "What are you thinking," I will let you know today that I am not a big programmer, and from now on I recommend looking at the quotation marks, meaning not exactly. I actually support Neimod's work. If you need to know what I am talking about, watch my latest YouTube video here.

It's very simple. It's done through a UROM crash to access a dev menu. You can't do anything in the menu, but it won't hurt your 3DS/DSi/DS.
You know, it should get Neimod involved. It might help him get through with the process. It's no Action Replay, GameGenie, nor a flashcart of some sort to acess the DEV menu. A safe game crash (SGC), or a UROM crash allows you to access a menu by freezing a game somehow and entering a code. There are about 3 games used to get to the DEV menu: 2 Mario games (above) and a Lego Star Wars game. This can be a big leap into the future for 3DS hacking! Here me out Neimod! I give to you a suggestion! It's easier to do the exploit in New Super Mario Bros. If you need anything, like how to do it, just ask me in the comments. No harsh comments - show some support.

How exactly did you crash it??? because i certainly could not figure out wtf happend at 1:46.
    And you yourself said this.
How can the system be hacked if we dont have access to the 3ds mode???.

Well, like I said, I am no big programmer, right now 3ds mode can't be hacked by anyone. I also said pay attention to words in quotation marks. It means it is not exactly what it is claimed to be. I said in the post (at which in the video I used NSMB) I crashed the game by taking the cart out at the 'Nintendo' logo. You enter a code in and debug mode comes up. The game is actually crashed.

You might as well tell what "code" you used to access the Dev menu.
So that it can be reproduced by others.

It gives it more legitimacy to it then just saying using a special code.

    Edit:
I'm not calling it BS cause I've seen it a few times.
But telling what buttons etc you press might make it more easier.

Okay, since you asked for it.
At the Nintendo logo, take out the game cart.
    Enter this code:
    Hold L+R+LEFT+A and release
    Hold DOWN+B and release
Hold START+SELECT together and you will end up at debug mode. You're welcome.

EDIT: Never said anything about "special" code.

I'll see if I can get a copy of NSMB and try it out myself.

The same button sequence is used for all games?

Useless. For a start, this is in DS mode, not 3DS mode or even DSi mode. All it is is a stack dump from when the game crashes. It's not any use, particularly seeing as none of the registers being displayed can be influenced in any way, as the crash is not dependent on user input data. This "debug menu" (as it has been called) has been known for many years and nothing useful will come of it. Sorry to "burst your bubble" or whatever, but this is not useful.

Positive on NSMB and SM64DS, I think so for Lego Star Wars III - not positive - well... 95% chance yes for LSWIII.
EDIT: I recommend getting a copy of NSMB. It is much easier. The other games require a sudden crash during gameplay, which is obviously time consuming. So stick to getting NSMB.

Nice find, even if nothing good might come out of this, it's still great to find hidden debug mode stuff inside official games. :)

Excuse me SIRRR! But I don't care what you say. I said it's a start. I didn't say anything about 3DS mode being involved in it. So I am sorry to burst your bubble or whatever, but you are not useful. Thank you and goodbye.

Read the whole post before you quote him, couldn't have said it better SifJar.
Even if this was some kind of "dev only menu" it wouldn't bring us anywhere as we have the original DS hardware pretty much figured out.
NSMB doesn't have any DSi specific features and DS mode on a 3DS is sand-boxed.

This is useless and it's been known for a while.

And all we're saying here is that this couldn't become of use, no need to be a douche about it.
