When people say the US I expect government infrastructure, network infrastructure, not a couple of banks and some streaming services and whatnot.
Now such services do represent something significant and if they are being attacked it would speak to a fairly major play but the categorisation is an odd one, though I am sure some will argue it is academic (they do represent fairly major interests, and if not and out and out act of war if it is a nation state then serious act of aggression).
Do we have any word on whether this is a sophisticated attack, one likely to be knocked out in reasonably short order if the people in question have a good team, what the main sites actually are and whether they are experiencing real issues? That forbes article is rather light on info.

Yeah, however many hours on this is I am not seeing anything in the IT or general press about a DDOS and just things about some engineers a T-mobile probably having one of those "oh shit" moments.

Impressed that it knocked out voice as well, though if most voice carriers are little more than VOIP operators with a fancy endpoint then meh.
