Has the manufacturer said anything about on whether it will ever be able to support installing digital only games? Or has someone already found a way to do that?

If you are able to read, the manufacturer have been very clear the device IS A PHYSICAL CARTRIDGE EMULATOR.

and if you read the initial posts, YOU CAN NOT CREATE A PHYSICAL CARTRIDGE CERTIFICATE because only ninty can so you can not modify nor create from scratch a cartridge.

That’s something different entirely unless someone figures out a way to repack and sign files it wont happen if I understand correctly

That being said there’s a lot of digital titles with physical versions now. It’s how I got castle crashers, kingdom two crowns, and rain on your parade

Thank you for the information! And I can read, but also know that in the business of flashcarts and similar products, no matter what the manufacturer says, its always about piracy. It's about making money by making a product to attract people who pirate. I was just thinking maybe the manufacturer are just covering their asses by saying that their product is only for making "legal backup of your carts". And that maybe the manufacturer is "unofficially" working to support digital only games, because everyone knows that if that happens, they'll have more buyers of their products.

I was thinking this because, when information originally came out I did read their F.A.Q. and they did cover digital only games... And if you are able to read, you would see that they say "currently, it is not possible". "Currently" meaning in December/January digital only games were not supported. It's March now, so things could have changed. Also the word "currently" can indicate a possible change.

For me, at that time what the product offered did not have everything I wanted, and at that time did not warrant me following development closely. Thats why I asked here, to get answers from people that have been following more closely.

There are mixed reports of using XCI without the correspondent certificate, some people says it works and some says do not, It should not work by the way MIG works.

Starting to notice the MIG does not like rest mode too much

Been trying to play new pokemon snap on and off all day and about 50% of the time I’m greeted with a game card can’t be read error and a force closed game when I wake my switch back up

Yes, I can run games with the certificate of other games without worry, but the original data of the game must always be compliant.

Fun fact, in a silly way I wanted to see what it felt like to try to dumper the XCI loaded by SXOS by downgrading to 11.0.0
Except that the dump takes forever and the XCI is unusable, but it does recover the initial data.
(the initial data is not necessarily present in all dumps, especially if the XCI has been converted from an NSP)

sure hope whatever follows the mig down the line has a more elegant way to switch games. even a toggle button on top. the whole eject and reinsert business really just sounds like a recipe to easily break things.

That is pretty much the only reason I haven't bought a Mig Switch yet. Having more than 3-5 games in the cartridge would be such a nuisance.

I may be completely off base here, bear in mind I totally don't know what I'm talking about (as usual), but if you were to convert an nsp file to an xci, would that fall under what's counted as trimmed or modified so that the cart can't read it, even with a donor cert file? I'm thinking probably, but again, I don't know much on this whole subject yet so I'm asking y'all for clarification.

Doesn't it count as a "fake" XCI and not supported as of yet? Since it's missing valid headers.

Doesn't work yet. But it seems to be a problem with initial data disparity, not an issue with the cert itself.

I can double check and confirm later on if someone is able to assist me with getting hacbuild to not claim its own file causing it to error out ha

I wanted to try romhacks from my backups too but I can only get a weird 64kb XCI which defiantly ain’t right
Post automatically merged:

Here is a little batch script to help manage your dumped libraries. It should automatically take each parent folder and put it in 7z file(7zip required) with the highest compression level and automatically move the finished file to your specified directory. It saved me over 120gb when all was said and done. I've even set up my folder structure so that I can just extract these 7s files to my SD card directly.

There is an odd bug however where sometimes it will try and zip up the rest of the folders altogether, fail at 100% and than continue on as normal from where it was supposed too. I have ZERO idea on why but it still works in the end

Code:
@echo off
setlocal enabledelayedexpansion

for /d %%X in (*) do (
    "c:\Program Files\7-Zip\7z.exe" a "%%X.7z" "%%X\"
    move "%%X.7z" "C:\Roms\Switch\Games\MIG\7Z"
)

endlocal
pause

I just got my MiG Switch today after ordering it in January. However, I come here because things may be slightly more complex than I was given the impression of by certain news sites and what have you.

The primary thing I'm looking to do is to backup my Switch save files to my PC. Would this be possible with MiG Switch? Can I possibly launch homebrew software/firmware with the MiG Switch, or should I shift gears to installing a modchip?

Thanks to anyone who can help.
