Sooo..just making sure. If I were to unplug my wii's power at 15% on an untouched ISO, and then pop in a regionfriid/brickblocker'd version of the ISO, nothing bad will happen? no duplicate channels or bricking of any kind? Seeing mixed results here so wanna make sure...

btw: using an NTSC wii with d2ckey installed if it matters any

I did the following procedure for my NTSC-U Wii + 1.9g and ended up with a normal Wii, no duplicated channels.

0. Update Wii to latest version through online.
1. Patch the ISO with RegionFrii.
2. Burn the ISO at 2x with IMGBurn and verify turned on.
3. Patch the SAME ISO with Brickblocker (so now it's RegionFriied AND Brickblocked)
4. Burn the second ISO at 2x with IMGBurn and verify turned on.
5. Pop in the first burned disc.
6. Update to ~10-15%, pull the plug.
7. Pop in the second burned disc.
8. Works perfectly.
9. Throw away first disc, it's useless now.

Tried with yaosm, it failed. Disc cannot be read. Any help?

That...can't be true, right?

If it can work with Wiikey, surely it'll work with Yoasm.

Give us more info. What version is your firmware? Whose release did you obtain? Could it be disc brand?

Yeah more info. If it doesn't then i'll just port cyclowiz on it.
It's not me, it's a friend, so I don't have the full details, trying to get in contact with him right now
So from what I know this is it:

Yaosm 1.9, with DVD-R (unknown brand)

working on finding out what the file name is, but it was from usenet

Works on my YAOSM 2.0.

Cant guarantee it, but i'm pretty sure nothing won't

What would be the better option?

1. getting dual channels
2.15% trick

one of the methods COULD affect the chances of actually playing the full version (full Dual layer)

just saying in case, which method seems safer?

The 15% method looks safer, my brother did it with MP3 and never had any kind of problems

There's a chance that the update to support DL is actually added at the end of the update, 15% would therefore stop that part being installed and stop the original or a DL copy playing.

What's the point of using RegionFrii if you have the Wiikey? I thought it could already play other regions... but hey if this seriously works perfectly without risk, then I'll have to try it. By the way, does it tell you the percentage as it updates or do you have to carefully eye it out?

Edit: In RegionFrii you set it to USA if you have an ntsc-u system and a Jap iso, right?

Also, is Sonic unlockable on this dump?

Wouldn't that mean an actual copy of the real game wouldn't update because of that action?

i think the game only forces you to update to 3.1J, since your console is already 3.1U, the US version of SSBB won't need to update

In that video where a guy boots up the single layer disc and it played. Then booted up the dual layer disc and it also played. His was the semibricked method "extra two wii channels".
It should be safe to believe either method should work, but who wants extra wii channels?

After inserting the dual layer it will probably already reconized that the update was applied. The game will able to access all the areas..

no more crashes

My update starts going and a couple seconds later it says "update failed" when I try to run ssbx-jp on 3.1U with 1.9g Wiikey

edit: increased read speed to 6x and it works now, but when I load up the game i go to a blue screen with crazy japanese.

edit 2: don't know what happened, but it works fine now

i use metroid method... results:
Works fine!!!
i have Wii NTSC and wiikey 1.9G
no dual channels
