Hey everyone! Lately I've been playing Dreamcast games via NullDC but these past couple of days got me thinking about how the ol' Dreamcast really had a personality of it's own. There's a special feeling with this console that you just don't get with any other. Maybe it's the silliness of many Dreamcast games or their arcade nature but the Dreamcast was something special. I'm going back to play some more Shenmue but feel free to share you Dreamcast memories here :)

For the fun of it, I present to you "The Rise and Fall of the Dreamcast"

Having only gotten a DC a few years ago, obviously well after its life span had come to an end, I missed a lot of the hype train for it. Although thanks to no copy protection I've been able to get every DC game I wanted to experience. Pretty good console, but always thought only having 1 analogue stick was kind of a big limitation.

Personally growing up as a Gamecube kid I never really played the Dreamcast but I loved the Sonic Adventure ports very much. Recently (about a year or two ago) I started to increase the amount of games by playing with Reicast and really enjoyed it and have been playing MvsC alot as well as a few other games that work well on reicast. Ultimately it is a pretty darn good console.

Minus the clock, my DC is still kicking and hopefully will continue working for a good while. I feel bad for burning games back in the day though although not so much for Japan-only stuff like Capcom VS SNK 2. I do have the legit versions of some of the best DC games like MvC1-2, Soul Calibur, DOA2 etc. I nee to give Shenmue 1-2 a go as well because it's a series with a massive cult following that I haven't played for more than a few seconds really. Also, the image quality the DC outputs was and still is gorgeous even through crappy composite cables. VGA boxes are apparently pretty expensive so I need to get an S-video cable for my DC at the very least.

Also afaik VGA can not play normally a few games (I do not know which ones tho) but I believe most will work. Either way I actually like the composite cables as they give me nostalgia.

Wife and child gone on vacation this week and what do I do? ....play Dreamcast games. Like seriously, WTF?! When did I become such a Sega fan? I just came back from a bike ride in my neighborhood and I've been blasting the Sonic Adventure 2 OST in my headphones. Knuckles is a "go hard" on dat mic!

I can relate as my sis and folks were gone for 3 days and i just sat around and played scribble nauts, mole mania, and a bit of ratchet and clank all 4one.
Anyway i have been rocking the old Crush 40 album and it really is a great head banging kind of rock that really give me a crazy explosion of nostalgia?

My hometown's dentist office had a Dreamcast in the waiting room. I don't remember what I played on it though, just that one game had some sort of skydiving minigame that relied on the little screen in the controller.
