I really don't get why a site like gbatemp lacks information about this new device. You all remember Robert Pelloni and his Bob's Game? Since Nintendo doesn't want to license his game, he made a team with other developers, that are planning to release a linux based handheld device, featuring a 320x240 screen, 200-400 Mhz CPU, the full version of bob's game preloaded, an SDK and a game store. According to this video it will only cost 20 bucks.

And no, this is not fake and the guy don't just want attention, he is serious. Here is proof that this device exists:

Currently they are gathering funds for mass production and you can directly order from their site when the device becomes available.

This is still no proof that the console is real. The console was never shown in the video, only the screen. And for all we know that could just be a DS, a GBA, a Dingoo, whatever. The statement remains.. Pics or didn't happen.

It's a nice concept, though. To have a completely open system would make any open source supporter cream their pants, including my own. You'd have more room for gaming, and less room for all that pointless stuff companies are adding to their portables, like browsers and mini-games.

Yes it is a nice concept, and if it is real I'll be among the first to buy it, but that's no reason to not be skeptical.

Hasn't he figured out that Bob's Game was a doomed project from the moment that he released the first DS demo?

People played it, saw how boring and unexceptional it was, and all media sites that were following the Bob's Game viral marketing quickly dropped the story entirely.

Can't even design a cheap game's system worth half a shit, the actual physical model looks like a joke and the user interface is just plain ugly.

I'll stick to GP2X systems for Linux, others will stick to Dingoo. They actually have something, support.

Kids aren't going to like playing a knock-off of tetris that's unreasonably difficult because of irregular block shapes, a shaking screen, and I think I even recall the screen flashing horribly.
