Well, the article (or the title atleast) is talking about the "deaf representation" (or: representation of the deaf) in video games, and not the video game-y aspects like gameplay, game mechanics etc. since those are the things most important in a "video game" (hope it makes sense).

We like to pretend that games can be "art" and that their stories have "meaning" and their characters have "depth", but evidently those parts only stand in the way of the most important thing
And I'm pretty sure there's like a grillion other articles about MSM2 on that site, most of which talk about the gamey aspects. That part is well covered.
