The Last Story

The most we've seen so far of The Last Story, an upcoming Wii role-playing game from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, has been artwork. It's about time we looked at the actual game itself, eh?

This week's issue of Famitsu gave the world its first look at the game, which many are hoping will bring the Wii something it's badly needed more of: mature, top-shelf role-playing games.

Whether it does or not is of course not going to be settled by scans, nor by the recent track record of Mistwalker, whose past few games have been seen by many as merely "competent".

But it does look nice, no?

Wow, I`m flabbergasted....

It just looks plain beautiful judging from these scans. It seems to stay true to the concept art, which I love when games do that (like PoP08 or Okami). And that thing with the big claws on the last scan looks really cool. Over all a very nice artstyle. Hopefully we`ll get to see it in a action in the near future as well...

I have high hopes for this title, since it seems to be very ambitioned and already far in development and the little details about the combat and story sound interesting as well!

Huh? So Square split when they merged with Enix and one part renamed themselves into Mistwalker? I didn't know that...

First I've heard about this game (only just recently taken more interest in my Wii) and it looks quite nice...I hope it's more free roam with a nice story and lots of side quests.

I'm actually rather interested in this game. RPG's is my favorite genre, and there seems to be a lack of great ones on the Wii. Hopefully this will will be worth the wait.

The old Square who make the firsts Final Fantasy that we love so much (including FFVII) is now Mistwalker.

a fantastic game graphically... they might be trying to bring older style games back for ppl lost in between. One of the best free roaming games recently has been AC2 and although DRM was strong people still liked the game as much

Blue Dragon, ASH, and Lost Odyssey make them that much better than Square-Enix? Kinda have to disagree with ya there.

The game does look amazing in these screens, although being the Wii, probably not a good idea to raise hopes too high yet. At least without seeing actual gameplay footage.
