Remember your first time playing Tetris on Game Boy? You know what would make that experience even better? 3D.

Nintendo has just announced that Tetris: Axis will see release in North America on 2nd October, bringing with it 8-player Download Play, Augmented Reality and SpotPass features too. In fact, there are over 20 gameplay modes, running from the classic survival and arcade modes to six-player online play over Nintendo WiFi Connection.

Will you be slotting this one into place in your 3DS game collection come 2nd October?

The original portable Tetris® game was a smash hit on the Game Boy™ system. The new Tetris: Axis game lets players use the magic of the Nintendo 3DS system to jump into the action in 3D without the need for special glasses. The game includes more than 20 different modes – some familiar, some new. Up to eight players can compete in wireless multiplayer battles, even if only one player has a game card**. Tetris: Axis also makes use of the augmented-reality and SpotPass™ features of Nintendo 3DS.[/p]

Tetris is awesome. [IMG] I'll probably get this, But I want Starfox more. The 3DS's lineup sure is awesome.

This better be 3DS-Ware, that way it will at least be at a fair price.

Yay, Tetris title number 423438247320984735234523456457567768675462341. I may be off by one or two numbers.

Tetris is still a fair game for a higher price. Considering how many hours people spend on Tetris compared to any other game, you're getting enough bang for your buck.

I'd easily pay $40 for a good game of Tetris with tons of modes and features over $40 for like Star Fox 64 or Ocarina of Time, honestly. Tetris fucking rules.

Tetris, with multiple additional modes you'll soon disregard in favour of the traditional mode.

I would hold out for the inevitable 3DSware release, but I doubt we'll see the full game via download - probably just one or two modes (like the Tetris DsiWare, which is awesome). I love Tetris, but I think I'll wait for a retail price drop for this one, or pick it up in one of Amazon's sales.

That AR Tetris looks fun as hell though.

Is this going to be like that freaky 3D tetris thing where the screen rotates with the tetris piece? I loved that game.

There's a CardCaptors Tetris? Wow, I'll need to give it a try.

Sold. I loves me some tetris. I'll easily pay $40.00 for it.

    Forget you!

On topic though, really excited for OVER 9000 hours of gameplay! (Not really, but just felt like sticking that there)

Tetris is the best video game ever made.

They'll sell tons of 3DS just because of Tetris Axis.

How sweet of them, adding a bunch of random modes to justify the 40 dollar price to the average consumer.

For me, any traditional Tetris game is worth, in itself, a lot of money. I'm buying this.

They're all probably just rehashes from the Tetris Party games for the DS/Wii.
