I recently installed the .cia version of the temperPCE emulator and when I went to place the cd add-on bios, the area it specified did not exist. Are bios incompatable with the .cia version? Do I need to create the directories myself? I'm willing to provide screenshots of my SD Card's files if need be.

The directory you place the bios in is located at 3ds/temperpce_3ds/syscards/

The three bios (with the following CRC32 hash) are:
  • syscard1.pce [3F9F95A4]
  • syscard2.pce [FF2A5EC3]
  • syscard3.pce [2B5B75FE]

You missed what the post was about. I'm saying that that directory does not exist anywhere on my SD card.

Try making the missing directory and putting those bios in. Report back if it works or not.

Edit - [Release] TemperPCE for 3DS

CIA Version:
  1. Use your favorite CIA installer to install temperpce_3ds.cia into your CFW. You can also use FBI to download from TitleDB.
  2. Place your ROMs inside any folder.
  3. Copy temperpce_3ds_top.png to ROOT of your SD card.
  4. Exit your CIA installer and go to your CFW's home screen to launch the app.

CD ROM BIOS

  1. If you have the CD ROM BIOS, place them in the /3ds/temperpce_3ds/syscards folder.
  2. They must be named:
    • syscard1.pce (version 1),
    • syscard2.pce (version 2),
    • syscard3.pce (version 3),
    • syscard3.pce (arcade card),
    • games_express.pce (for Games Express).
  • You can have all four in the /3ds/temperpce_3ds/syscards folder. In the configuration, you can choose which ROM version you want to use.

Does your 3ds directory has a dspfirm.cdc file? Homebrews that use sound will not work unless that file is dumped.

Section V - DSP Dump

The last thing I can think of is to try the .3dsx version of temperPCE through Homebrew Launcher.

I do have dspfirm.cdc in my 3ds directory.

I'll try the .3dsx version and report back.

3dsx version didn't work.

You mentioned you have Luma3DS. Do you know what version it is? What method did you use to acquire custom firmware (unless you bought or acquired it pre-hacked)?

I have the latest stable build (Don't know version number) and I used seedmining to get it. Anyway, I have to go to sleep. Thanks for your help.

When you get the chance, archive your bios files in WinRAR and see if the hash matches these:

temper_PCE_bios_hash.png

Next, if you got a spare SD card (like the original 4 GB micro SD that comes with the 3DS), try testing a bare bone CFW setup with luma3DS, boot9strap, GodMode9, TemperPCE, dspfirm.cdc, bios files, and .pce roms.
Use this as a basis: https://gbatemp.net/threads/3ds-cfw-restoring-functionality-on-a-new-sd-card.507458/#post-8052010
You'll have to supply your own dspfirm.cdc, syscard bios, and game roms files.

Lastly, another thing to check for is your SD card if something might be wrong with it. Copy everything off the card, reformat it in FAT32 + 32 KB cluster size using guiformat, and run H2testw with a Full Write + Verify test.
