Technical Question: Why does the 3ds camera take so long to boot

My camera takes a couple of seconds to boot up. I'm curious as to what it does in those 5 or so seconds it takes to boot.

I'm guessing it first needs to shutdown/unload the home screen, then load up the camera app, which would then need to access the sd card to read/load your audio and photo folders/files and also turn on/activate the camera lenses. It takes time to shutdown one program and load up another. Think of it as two seperate operating systems.

From what I know the camera you access with l+r is inside of horizon. Plus apps that use the camera wouldn't have to start then. I probably bet something similar is happening though
