Take-Two promises that BioShock 4 will release eventually, despite development struggles

In 2019, it was announced that a new BioShock game was in development. Studio Cloud Chamber would be creating a new entry into the series, and that was about all anyone knew of the project. Six years later, and there's still hardly anything known about the upcoming game, except for the fact that there seems to be problems internally, as publisher Take-Two has replaced the leader of the BioShock 4 project at Cloud Chamber. In regards to negative speculation over whether or not the game would actually be completed, Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, had an interview with IGN to explain the recent news.

Zelnick promised that despite any issues in development, BioShock 4 would release, eventually, specifically stating, "It’s going to come out. That I can say hand on heart, without question." He admits to the team struggling with the project as well, explaining, "We have had some ups and downs along the way. That is accurate. And we have had changes in studio leadership. That said, we have very big shoes to fill on BioShock because of the legacy of Ken Levine, the legacy of what has gone before, which has been so successful. And we need to make sure that this experience is true to the BioShock DNA on the one hand, and a massive step forward on the other hand. That's always challenging. We think we're up to the challenge, but it has not been seamless."

Currently, the most recent BioShock title was 2013's BioShock Infinite. Reports also indicate that a remake of the original BioShock was in the works, but was recently cancelled.

Dunno I I want it after the underwhelming 3. and 2 wasn't all that stellar.
I thought 3 was really good. Very impressive on xbox 360…. I played 1 and 3, never played 2 (yet? Btw that was done by a different studio than the og, and from what I read even 10 years ago I kinda lost interest in that specific one). The story in 3 and more varied environments in 3 were great.

It’s so crazy how many ‘franchises’ completely skipped 2 generations of consoles (and no I don’t count remasters or any of that).

after all these years i honestly have no hope for Bioshock 4 turning out good, Take-Two is no Nintendo that's for sure (with Metroid Prime 4).. i guess they just didn't know where to take it after Infinite, i mean i could see that, tho if they just went with a new locale (like in Infinite) while they still had momentum or even going back to Rapture with a new improved look and with preferably semi-open world gameplay, it would've been a banger

I really liked 2. It was also the first one I played and beat. I only killed 1 person, before I realized I had the choice to let them live.

Can't say I'm particularly looking forward to this after Infinite, which was truly one of the videogames of all times.

Also hard to believe an industry that's willing to lie blatantly to save face in front of investors, only to pull the rug when you expect it the least. So their "It's still coming trust us" comment means nothing.

It's hasn't been that long of a wait. Even Elder Scrolls 6 has been in development longer and still not out, but I doubt anyone thinks that it won't.

If it drags to duke nukem forever level of waiting, then that's the time to sound the alarm.

They should force the entire dev team to play 3, so they know what to not make.

"Duke Nuke'm Forever"
The hate for Duke Nukem Forever is over blown. It wasn't that bad of a game, it was a bit of a let down though, but no video game could live up to the hype it had.

Actually I own it. It's not really bad, I'm an easy customer, but comparing it to something like Duke Nuke'm Total Meltdown (that's the only other version of it I own, oh and the PS Vita version which is the same game but better graphics) it simply doesn't stack up. Also, I own quite a few games that didn't live up to what they should have been but I got a ton of pleasure playing. For instance...

Bionic Commando (Retail Version) - It got a lot of flak from critics, but I fucking LOVED IT. One of the few games I've actually ever finished!

Darkwatch - I (still) have it to this day for the good ol' XBox and playing it online was a blast.

Aliens VS. Predator - Not very well received but I loved playing it and still own it for my 360.

Viking - Sega game for the 360.

Pitfall: The Lost Expedition - Awesome cartoony game that got mediocre reviews. IGN got hazed so badly for their review of the game, gamers bitched and squaked until IGN re-reviewed it and gave it a better score. No shit, look it up.

So see, I like some "crappy games" too. Hell, I even own a mint-condition Atari 5200 SuperSystem that works FLAWLESSLY, and I have 25 games for it, and the library is still growing. :)

(it certainly IS one of the videogames of all times. lol)

Yeah. Bioshock Infinite was such a shitty trainwreck and disaster that:

Metacritic:
PS3: Critic - 94 / User - 8.5
360: Critic - 93 / User - 8.5
PC: Critic - 94 / User - 8.6
