so I wanted to ask some people before I update, 'cause I'm unsure how to and I wanna do it right
so I'm running atmosphere 0.10.1 but I'm still on 8.1 with my OFW and was wondering as some of the games I wanna play tell me I need to update my system, unless there's someway around that?

OFW can safely be updated through the normal method.

the only way I've known to is to update via internet and I was told it wouldn't be a good idea
sorry for being a total noob
It's not a good idea on an unclean NAND, but it's the "only" way on OFW since running homebrew like ChoiDujourNX comes with a ban risk.

alrighty so is there a tutorital on how to update it without going online?
I cant help you i use Sx OS..

No offense Hardline, but that is one of the many reason people don't support SXOS. Everything you can do on Atmos, you can do on SXOS (Within reason/developers wishes). This includes updating your FW manually. Its the same instructions for both CFW's. Procure your desired update, run ChoiDujourNX, check the FW with said program, make sure you install the correct one (Exfat or Fat32, depending on your SD), and make sure to check if you want RCM installed or not.

Generally, I’d go to the ChoiDujorNX gbatemp thread. Chances are someone has posted a tutorial for it there. The idea of it is that you download the firmware files from the internet somewhere, and just select the files on ChoiDujorNX and it will install for you. Really, if you can go online safely with the eMMC or emuMMC you are on, just update through Nintendo. Fuses don’t matter as much as people stress, because any custom bootloader just ignores the fuse count. However, on iPatched switches the fuse count is pretty important. I guess do whatever you want, just don’t be an idiot.
