Hi there
I’d like to transfer my 3DS’ setup from one system with B9S to another. How do I do so?

I can’t imagine the default system transfer would transfer everything. Is there a solution that doesn’t involve having to reinstall everything?

Both systems are N3DS’, so I figured backing up the NAND and restoring it on the other might work, then just using the same SD card.

NAND backups and restores are easy but time consuming. The main transfer system won't transfer HBL, FBI, etc. but will transfer all your other data quickly, and you can easily reinstall the apps, so yeah.

The regular system transfer works just fine. If you have all the normal CIA you installed on both systems when hacking it, those will show up. What will NOT show up is any games you downloaded CIAs of that the other system doesn’t have. I system transfer all the time between my 2 New 3DS with CFW

Also I thought installing another systems NAND would cause bricking?

I'm not sure, and no one wants to try it, but I'm pretty sure this is the answer:

Yes and No. If you transfer between the same system type (o3ds - o3ds, n3ds - n3ds) it won't brick, but o3ds - n3ds may brick.
All the threads I have just seen have all vehemently said to not install another systems NAND as you will brick.

You can’t even system transfer from New to Old so that shouldn’t be an issue

Yeah I don’t want to brick... can anyone confirm this?
System Transfer, the official process from Nintendo, won't brick you console, no matter what you do. Well, just don't turn it off when it's writing on NAND, and you're alright. No matter if it's O3DS -> N3DS and one of them is hacked, it won't brick!

Don't use the NAND backup of one system on another as you will brick. As for transferring your stuff between the two systems, @Quantumcat may have some more information on that. As Olmectron said, the official system transfer process that Nintendo has won't brick your system.

That wasn’t the question, but thanks haha.

Ah right, thank you. I’ve just seen that the official system transfer app leaves some stuff out, having to manually reinstall just seems like a pain.

You don't need to reinstall everything!

Just use an app like https://github.com/DanTheMan827/tikShop

TikShop will reinstall all the tickets after the transfer, and as long as you're using the same SD card (or copy the contents to the new to be used card in the target system), your CIA installed apps will show again after their tickets install!

Olmectron gave you a good app to use, but do note that it's only for tickets for eShop games found on that title keys site. Your Homebrew CIA installed titles will need to be reinstalled after the transfer.

Those are the ones I’m bothered about. It seems like a hassle reinstalling all my homebrew again.

I suppose there isn’t a solution though?
