DJ, better compatibility than the backup loader. and all my games that are correct region load from the disc channel as though i had a chip... With any luck it will shortly be able to do everything a chip can do short of GC games.

after all this patching, what exactly is the benefit?
what extra have you got from being normal with just your normal CIOS....?

No more need for IOS version patching, and 2 additional games working. And the loaders are still working for import games.

is it worth it? i mean..........Really?
for a couple of games extra working and the ability to load from the disc channel....

Basicly everything is still the same, the same speed obviously, the same..... well everything, i just cant get round what is the advantage here?

i know where dangerous part comes into play but that's Own Fault, just wanting to understand the full benefit from this dangerous installation of patching...

The menu plays whatever video mode the disc is by default, it doesnt attempt to goto your video mode. I know this for a fact because i have 3 games which do support NTSC but default to PAL if not forced. As for decrypted games, i see no reason to let them die, especially with the way the economy is right now. Alot of people still have several decrypted games from beta (i have 15) which they can't afford to re-burn right now. I'm one of those 2.5 million unfortunate people to have become jobless, and i don't see the economy doing a sudden turn about anytime soon. Although as I said i doubt the decrypted support is possible. But hey if we can have all three why not? As for video modes i didn't use to care as i have a DLP projector that supports all video modes, unfortunatly the bulb blew a few days ago and at 250 a pop obviously i can't afford to replace it, so im stuck on a crappy 27" tv now that only does NTSC and black and white pal.

I'm not saying in any way that anything should be done to stop decrypted discs from loading, but hell, they can still be run with Gamma. The decrypted monster needs to be left unfed to die a slow death. Well... maybe just feed it enough to keep it alive so that the kids can pet it every once in a while. Food=Gamma

Also take into consideration that decrypted discs have never been able to display in Disc Channel no matter what menu patcher or rebooter or whatever is used.

Currently the only danger i can see from this would be if the next update from nintendo (3.5) causes an issue, and anyone dumb enough to do this and then install a new update before its been tested gets what they deserve. Otherwise the only danger is if you are out of space or have a power failure mid install. As to the advantage the better compatibility and disc channel loading (for those who have alot of non technical people using the wii) are a big deal to some people, besides who knows where this could lead, this could be the first step towards finally getting 6x speeds out of backups (but i doubt it)

Why does a man climb Everest?

Also you're forgetting about being able to boot backups from recovery mode with no modchip.

Another benefit is, I don't have to show my wife and daughter how to load a game every god damn time they want to play one of my backups!!!! hehehehe

The Wii Stuntmen..... Danger is our Business! Can somebody make me a Wii Car Model for GTA4 PC so I can make some stunt videos?

now that is a god work!

Yeah totally agree, with digi, whoever fucks their wii up during the process it's a case of should have known better.....

Well i must say, this is well worth it, i mean the wii is dam cheap anyway, so why not keep the danger running all the way

if you end up with a full brick, easily bought again hehe

Would it not be more ideal to have this thread halted till theirs more info on it etc...otherwise you will keep on getting more and more idiots who are CLUELESS asking for this POWERPACK..to install.......otherwise just keep on turning them away

Just let them do, then you will benefit from it if they succeed with full import games support from disc channel.

It looks like the real reason this thread was started died... Aren't we supposed to try to give ideas on how to make this better? Now it seems like everybody is just repeating the same damn thing...

This games works...
Will this one work???
Can I play PAL games on my NTSC Wii???
How do I install it?
Where do I get the files?
And finally... Is it going to brick my Wii?

I think it's time to start giving ideas on how to make this better. Of course, cSM or BootMii aren't out yet but we can still try other things.

No way this thread should die, then what would I do????????

Actually there's still a lot of ideas being kicked around. I do believe though that if somebody comes up with a solution to Region Force and that proves reliable it would be time to package up some documentation/tutorials and maybe start a more official thread. We've been running this setup now for like 4 days and I haven't heard that I can remember anybody having anything more than the usual problems "wah.... this game won't load.... oh yea..... it's decrypted and I forgot"

As a side note!!!! Yesterday I went to a website to get some information and It informed me I was the 1 Millionth visitor!!!!!!
Today I went back to get some different information and shazzam!!! I'm the 1 Millionth visitor again!!!!! Isn't the internet wonderful. I can just imagine......

"Click" ....... Pause ....... Windows Anti-Virus 2009 has detected a problem with your system. Please Click continue to fix this problem!!!

Those Fuckers!!!!!

Ha! Ha! Looks like you're running WINDOWS!!! Ha! Ha! Ha! Run Linux! It's way better!

Now, back on topic... I'd like to help on the backup loader but sadly I don't know C yet... I just know HTML, JAVA, and ActionScript... Isn't there a source for any backup loaders which support region forcing???

BootMii isn't going to do shit for backup loaders anyway, so what's the point in that been in the equation eventually anyway.....

Actually I think bootmii will be the turning point for 6x backups. Think about it, if we have complete control whats to stop someone writing a program to run on load that rips the drive firmware. Then it would just be a matter or writting a new one, or writing a program to override the 3x limit for DVD discs, since its access to the firmware that has prevented this up to now. Plus having guaranteed brick prevention allows us to be alot more experimental with our wii.

Its been great to see the forum alive again with something new,

to save me time repacking all the wads, please may i also ask for someone to pm me with a link for the CIOSPACK.

thanks WiiBlaster for the link, been a pleasure reading all the developments

Speaking of Linux, if I could come up with an NTSC distribution of Gentoo linux for Wii i would be thrilled. I've got gentoo installed, but it's PAL and the bottom menu is off screen. The Wii hardware stays in NTSC mode evidently while the software runs in PAL. I really haven't been checking into it that much, but if anybody knows anything about a Bliight install for NTSC throw me a bone. With the PAL version I installed, GUI, keyboard, mouse all work, but the video format makes it useless.

I think the 3x,6x or no dvd reading is a decided by the drive chip. I think you only could patch it via software from the Wii with an exploit in the dvd drive firmware.

Ok stop posting a little bit so WiiPower can see this

:

what if the MCI takes the info from the same FS_dump folder that you have after the process of FS Dumper is done, so no even need of knowing how to or where to put them in the SD??????

Ahh ahh ahh ahh who's your Daddy..??

Right now we're able to autoboot discs with homebrew applications on them straight from recovery mode off of dvdr. Isn't that exactly what your'e talking about doing or does bootmi intercept the boot chain even before that point?
