It is a firmware sproofing method and you can do it easily by swapping four 11.0.0 BKG partitions generated by EmmcHaccgen.

From what I understand, this will downgrade your package2 (kernel + firm sysmodules) to fw 11.0 but will leave all titles on "SYSTEM" partition unchanged (i.e 11.0.1).
HOS gets the firmware version from SystemVersion title (0100000000000809). This title remains unchanged, which is why it'll display "11.0.1" in the Settings menu.

What is the point of all this ? Did I miss something ?
I would recommend doing a full downgrade to 11.0 instead, via Atmosphère's "daybreak" homebrew.

This doesn't actually update your firmware to 11.0.1; it just makes it look like it did. There is no point to this outside of proof of concept.
