Hello everyone!

I'm new to this forum and to the OLED modding (and modchips).

I have already found a good v4 modchip thanks to another user here, but I came across the V5 modchip from the same seller.
Does anyone have experience or knows something about OLED v5 modchip?

You can select the v5 OLED chip from the images
Since OLEDs have a burning problem I want to avoid wasting 500

Thanks!

See this thread (gbatemp.net/threads/new-hwfly-oled-core-v5-chip-is-out-on-aliexpress.621153/). If the price is not higher too much, V5 is better.

without reading the mentioned thread (and your link is invalid), the main difference is in the flex cables. It uses less actual wire, and more flex cable. Some people think it's great. Some installers would rather use wires instead of the extra flex (for cmd clk). They use the adapter for dat0, of course, and the flex over the cpu. Problem is that the new flex for cmd/clk/gnd/+5v doesn't always fit precisely, and the cmd point is super tiny and can cause a brick if it gets lifted or whatever.

But, it comes down to personal choice. Functionally, they are no different. If you get the latest and decide to use the included flex cables, I HIGHLY suggest good use of solder mask with a decent USB UV light to cure it, all around the solder points and corners of the flex cable, and dat2 adapter. Apply mask only after meter checks are verified good, of course.

I want a handheld gaming system with a tablet sized screen, like a 8 or10" screen, with controllers that can detach like the Switch.

I don't see the buzz about a square screen personally. I think there will be a review on the site within a few weeks though if you are interested.

I've put down the money on the Odin 2 Mini since I just love that Vita form factor. Loved the power of the Odin 2 but the size always put me off, this one seems exactly what I've been wanting.

I don't care about the square screen it's just nice to hold something you don't have to stretch your arms a foots length

All these things expecting to be super huge is overrated just run a type c cable to your TV if you want a big display or in my case screen mirror it

On the go tho I meant, I use my 10" tablet and a Bluetooth controller for retro gaming while sitting on my porch or on long car rides sometimes. Easier on my eyes than the Switch screen.

My point is we already have enough shit with big displays having something pocketable with up to ps2 would be fine on the go

Ken unless the games are made for that screen size most suck on a screen that size... Having a square screen and being brighter and higher res helps but it's not a cure all, text is tiny bullets are tiny, your.... Well lol
