Yesterday, I went online with Pokémon Scarlet (on sysNAND) when the update prompt for version 20.1.0 appeared. I accidentally pressed "Update", and after the Switch rebooted, it got stuck on the "Nintendo Switch" logo.

The first thing I tried was entering maintenance mode to format the console, but no matter how long I held the volume buttons, the mode wouldn't activate.

Next, I attempted to boot into sysNAND using Hekate and Atmosphère, and to my surprise, the console booted just fine. From there, I accessed maintenance mode and was able to format the console. However, the initial setup screen (the tutorial/presentation) only appears if I boot sysNAND through Atmosphère. If I try to boot normally, the console remains stuck in a boot loop. I've also tried to complete it through Atmosphère, but after that booting normally still results in a bootloop.

What could be causing this issue?

I've ended up restoring my NAND backup, which solved the problem. Remember kids, the moral of the story is: always make a backup and always mod your console, not only for piracy, but to safeguard your system. If it hadn’t been for the mod, I would’ve been left with a doorstop.
