So I was going to sell my Switch OLED, I think maybe I could get 300 AUD for it. Maybe 350 AUD if I'm lucky. But I see that I can get a mod chip for Switch OLED for about 300 AUD all in (postage and installation). This Reddit picture makes it look like the Switch 2 screen is overall better than the OLED https://old.reddit.com/r/Switch/comments/1jsi2m1/the_switch_2s_lcd_looks_nicer_than_both_the_og/

But I'm not sure what I should do. I have a modded OG Switch, but a modded OLED would be sweet. What do you all think, is the Switch 2 better than the Switch OLED?

Of course we now know the Switch 2 doesn't have dimming zones, so it isn't really HDR. The OLED will have deeper blacks. But if the Switch 2 is so much brighter than maybe Switch 2 could be better overall than OLED?

I suppose I could mod the OLED and then sell the soft modded OG too. Or keep both and get a boyfriend to play all the games with...

No. OLED will look better than the Switch 2 LCD. Knowing Nintendo they did this on purpose so they can make Switch 2 with OLED in the future.
I think you're right. Everyone assumed the screen was going to be microLED after the reveal. I think I'm going to mod the OLED, I have a HUGE back catalogue of games I need to play that I can't afford to buy and I don't want to play them on the OG Switch.

It's just a lie....making people believe that HDR can replace or even compensate OLED tech is clearly a joke...
Even on my PC, I have to desactivate HDR cause it makes colors too dull and darker so when I pass from my PC screen to my TV OLED 4K, there is just no question anymore!

It's just a bad trick from nintendo to excuse the cheapest screen choice, I believe it will be a bit better than the switch V1/V2 actual screens, I hope at least but nothing more....

You might be right. Except for the higher refresh rate the OLED may be better in every way. Maybe faster load times and slightly higher resolution. I do like the OLED display a lot, it's the only OLED I own too either than my phone. Not having any OLED screen to play any real games on would be sad.

No, LMAO.

Did Miyamoto only invite the visually challenged to Switch 2 demos?
There are "reviews" here of the Switch 2 of people who spent just a few hours seeing/trying it. Fanboys can get really too hyped up and blinded by brand loyalty.

I still have my doubts about Mario Kart World being "the best Mario Kart they have ever done." We'll see. 🤔

I've pre ordered the launch NS2 so that'll be it for me I won't buy any additional models. For the time being when I get it, I'll use it to play NS1 cart games and use a DNS blocker (update the games, then activate the blocker again).

Nintendo has really disappointed me with the fake physical releases so I'll pirate when the time comes.

I've heard people say the Switch 2 screen looks better than the OLED, but I find that really hard to believe. Just being brighter doesn't make it better. I would wait and see when it releases rather than making any decisions now.
Digital Foundry says the opposite: "Switch 2 is a huge leap in quality as an LCD panel compared to the original Switch's LCD, but can't come close to the Switch OLED model."

Reddit is a dumbass place full of dumbass idiots. Having experienced the S2 in both dock and handheld at one of the event. While the screen does look really nice and smooth running MKW at 1080p 60fps, OLED is better. I mean, most folks won't be disappoint with it but to say it's better looking than OLED is just pure gullible.

Now think about how many people still have 1080p TV.

true I had some ass-hat ban me from r/pics because I made a comment about a confederate flag.

personally I don't really care. I have oled and lcd switch systems, lcd doesn't bother me except for it doesn't fill out the bezel like the oled does. I mostly play my games docked on a 48" OLED anyways.

I have a 43" 1080p and that's more than enough for me, I never cared about 4K.

1080p is fine enough to me, but I would not buy a TV that isn't 4k currently. 1080p tv's should be cheap like 43" maybe 100 bucks or less. My 4k 43" cost me about 160 lol so cheap and is LED back lit.

I also bought a 43" ish abroad that's 4K, but I never watched anything 4K on it. Max was 1080p.

I got my OLED chipped a few months ago for 150 AUD and with a sandisk 1TB microSDXC haven't looked back 🙂 installed a pretty HALO theme and lots of great games.
