"It features a 'slide tool,' which is about the least healthy thing I can think to do to a ps2 besides dropping it.

I believe that product also works on PS1 systems (just as devices like the action replay did), and that would be a much safer use of it. "

I'm not much of a technical expert but is this really the case? Honestly most of the games I want to play are for psone, not ps2. So if breaker pro wouldn't cause damage or stress to the psone in terms of the motor I might just buy a used psone and a breaker pro. Are there any psone versions that breaker pro doesn't work with?

Slide tools are for PS2 Fat version of swapping disc. I do not see too much harm in using them on PS2 Fat if one is careful, and patient. PS2 slim just uses sensors switches. For PS1 there is a swap trick to play backups too although it is more complicated of a swap and is bad for the motors, Breaker Pro works on all PS1 as long as you get the right disc for your console region.

Breaker Pro should not lessen the life of the motor and what not on either PS1 or PS2. All burned disc do lessen the life of the lasers, along with scratch/dirty disc. PS2 slim lasers can be had for around $10 each if they need replacing.

How does the swap trick for using breaker pro on psone work? Honestly if the swap method for psone is too complicated or might cause harm if not done properly I would consider buying a pre modded psone. Does anyone know of reputable sources that sell them? Feel free to pm me details if anyone isnt comfortable sharing here.

Breaker Pro is not complicated and does not cause harm if used correctly on either PS1 or PS2. I was referring to other swap tricks without using Breaker Pro.
I do not have any experiences buying swap disc online.

Have you had any compatibility issues with breaker pro? I've read some reviews online and there have been reports being hit and miss with it working properly with some titles. Could this just be a case of burning the discs at a speed too fast? Or maybe certain manufacturers producing poor blank cd's?

Also I found a complaint with breaker pro here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/486071

Have you had any problem with breaker pro in terms of gameplay lagging with certain games?

There IS a USB method for PS2s to run PS1 games, actually, but it's not using the PS1 hardware; It's an emulator called PS2PSXe and it runs one game at a time, with glitches, issues and no sound from a hard drive or USB stick right now. You need to write a code and run it with radshell to run the emuator. Honestly the only good thing about it is it's practically the only way you will ever run tomba on a PS2. Still, give it a go.

Eek well I can appreciate the effort that can go into building a program like that, but it doesn't sound like the solution for me. By the way, does anyone know of reputable message boards that deal in modded consoles?

Just do the 007 Agent Under Fire trick. (it should only cost you like $2 to pull off)

He isn't trying to mod his console, he's talking about running PS1 games.

As for what boards, well, the one I linked to is one of the best. (PSX-Scene) I'm there too as personuser so feel free to say hi. you'll find me mostly hanging around the SNES9x4PS2 dev thread, more so when it's active.

Thanks a lot for the link. I posted a thread on that site seeing if anyone had a modded psone for sale. Anyone know of other possible sources. Just want as many possible sources as possible
