Updates on existing Plugins
  • ColecoDS [DSL/DSi]
    DSMasterPlus [DSL/DSi]
MarcaDS [DSL/DSi] (but it could be because I may've not had any 'compatible MAME ROM with format ZIP NOT COMPRESS' )
    nesDS [DSL/DSi]
    NesterDS [DSL/DSi]
    Nitrografx [DSL/DSi]
    PictodriveDS [DSL/DSi]
    S8DS [DSL/DSi]

    FlickBook [DSL/DSi]

    World of sand [DSL/DSi]
Also note:-
1942, 1943, Greenberet and Duke3d: all required additional files (MAME ROMS or files from original game) to run
I haven't got/found these so can't confirm if they run them - but the programs do start up on both DSL and DSi
Quick question from a new guy. Why don't most plugins work on the DSI? Also will the emulators work if you manually use them instead of the DSTWO plugin?

No-one really knows WHY a DSi won't let them run as a plugin. Only the Supercard team can really answer that question

My initial thought was that running the DSTwo menu program that allows plugin selection may occupy some memory locations on a DSi that the 'plugin' wants to use, yet doesn't occupy on a DSlite - it's only a guess though

As for 'can they run as standalone ??', i.e if you run them through the DS_Game option instead, then I believe some will work. I have not tried ALL the program as standalone - but a couple that I have did work ('ApprenticeMinusDS' & 'animantee' 1.5b) did work as a 'standalone'

Will other flashcarts allow plugins on the DSi? Just wondering if it's a DSi issue or a DSTWO issue.

You may be getting a little confused - 'plugins' on a DSTwo are not really the same as 'plugins' on something like Moonshell

DSTwo plugins are (technically) really nothing more than a way to 'customise' the icon/name shown of a program stored in the plugin folder.
In theory there SHOULD be no difference from running the plugins & running the program as you would normally do on any other flashcard, but for some reason they just don't like running as a 'plugin' on a DSi, but will/may work fine if you run them 'normally' through the DS_game option (or Moonshell)

Don't forget that the DStwo is really not 'complete' yet & the software for it is always under development - hell, even Moonshell went through numerous versions before the developer called it quits - & THAT still has bugs in the final version

All I can suggest is that you should try the program as a plugin - if it doesn't work then 'move' the nds file somewhere else & run THAT after choosing the 'DS_Game' option & see if that works, then hope that the Supercard team can figure out what the problem is & fix it

i checked some of your uploads and you guys (alidsl, cannonfoddr) are packing the .nds homebrew files with the ds2 plug-in icon. this is simply not allowed, i will delete every post you made if you don't do that yourself. your filetrip accounts are on the line.

we do not need to waste server space by hosting the same file in more than 1 place. stop your project now, remove all dupes, reup your icons. in the "about" part of the filetrip upload add a link to the homebrew which is already on filetrip. if you can not find the homebrew file then upload to the correct section and link back to that new upload.

i expect to see this completed by the weekend. filetrip is not yours to abuse. if you want to pack the .nds files find your own hosting.

@ Another World: sorry about that - didn't realise that wasn't allowed.
I've now checked & removed/updated all my plugins that included a nds file now, but still need to add additional links to the download pages for actual program pages on some of them

@ alidsl: here's the new filetrip links for my plugin bmp/ini files
Diagnose: http://filetrip.net/f11653-DSTWO-DiagnoSe-Plugin-2-1.html
Colors: http://filetrip.net/f11654-DSTwo-Colors-Plugin-1-1.html
Comicbook: http://filetrip.net/f11655-DSTwo-ComicbookDS-Plugin-1-1.html
lmp-ng: http://filetrip.net/f11656-DSTwo-lmp-ng-Plugin-1-1.html
TextDS2: http://filetrip.net/f11657-DSTwo-TextDS2-Plugin-2-41.html
Lemmings: http://filetrip.net/f11658-DSTwo-Lemmings-Plugin-2-1.html
DSKiosk: http://filetrip.net/f11659-DSTwo-DSkiosk-Plugin-1-1.html
(it wouldn't let me have the same version number when I updated the files)

alidsl, CannonFoddr, & matt140: thank you.

i hope i didn't come off sounding mean. i use to be the 1 person who managed the dl center, and now with the size of filetrip it is harder to catch these things. with server space and dupes aside look at it like this... with each file you link them to is another potential sale through a partner site or from an advertisement. if they buy, gbatemp gets a portion of that money to help with server costs, new hardware, contests, filetrip, etc. for each plugin they dl, they now are properly linked to the homebrew. thats 2 advertisements per person. make sense? also this keeps the homebrew in one spot, so it is much easier to find.

thank you for taking care of that issue so quickly.

Sorry about that, we felt that it would be easier to include the nds files, and earlier in the thread people were complaining that the nds files weren't in the download,

thanks for the heads up

@ alidsl, i know i may seem a pain =P,

but it would be much appreciated if you could you please fix the credits for icons over at the SC forum

like you did for me here [Colors, DSftp, DScratch, Duke3DS, Green beret, LemmingsDS, MarcaDS]

i know im a stickler, but like i said before, i put in a lot of work getting those lil icons lookin pimp for akaio

thanks brohamalama =)

edit: heres something i noticed about the plugins.

the plugin list is placed in the order you add them to the folder (not alphabetical),

so you should/can add yer more important/accessed homebrews first, so ya dont have to scroll to far to get to yer fav app/game

I don't know how the ordering works so that could just be extra work for nothing

If people want it ordered they can find out how themselves

The one at the Sc forum is no longer being updated, and I linked them here

Sorry I'm extremely new to this, was hoping to get some help. I wanted to test out the DSx86 on the DSTWO (plays DOS games) and the instructions read:

QUOTE said:
Download the current version, the DSx86.ini and the 4dos.com files from the downloads page at http://dsx86.patrickaalto.com/
In the root of your card create a folder called 'data' and within that a folder called 'dsx86'
Copy the DSx86.nds file to the root of your card
Copy the DSx86.ini and the 4dos.com files to the dsx86 folder you created above
Extract your games into the dsx86 folder (best to use a short folder name without spaces e.g ALIEN, ABREED etc.)

So do I follow those directions instead of the _plugin folder or do I put the data file into the plugin folder? I guess I don't know if anything outside of the EOS constitutes a plugin (wasn't in the glossary).

Only the nds file the plugin icon and the plugin ini (not the DSx86 ini specified in the quote)

I don't think DSx86 will work as a plug-in because it specifically states that the nds file goes to the root of your card

I guess I don't quite understand the definition of plugin. When I talked to the DSx86 creator he told me
QUOTE said:
I have a DSTT card which just displays all the *.nds files in the root directory in a menu when I boot my NDS Lite, and after I select DSx86 it starts and goes to the DOS prompt, after which I can run the DOS games.

So do I have to chose between the EOS and using the DSx86?

Think of DSx86 as a game. You run the game from EOS like you would any other game. But, within the game (DSx86), you can load DOS-specific software/games.

That's kinda what I was thinking, I was just worried about the hierarchy they have listed on their website for folders and files.

So maybe instead I but the dsx86.nds with my other games and then in the games folder i create data and the dsx86 folder.
