I use Gmail, and it's been pretty good in filtering spam except recently. Although I have another account that seems unaffected. I have never published my email online for bots to pick up, except when I register in forums/stores. As of late, only the following stores are the ones I have used, so I'm wondering if any of them are the culprit. (perhaps they sell their customer's mailing list?)

gamebygame / dealwoot
dealextreme
meritline

I know meritline has disclaimer on their "Weekly Deals" section where if you use a specific coupon code, you sign up for their mailing list, but the spam I'm getting are real spam, (the domain are random weird domains, not meritline). None of the advertising I'm getting have an unsubscribe link either, and they all look the same, so i'm thinking it's from the same people.

Anyone else having such issues?

From my experience Gmail sucks in handling spam. Yahoo mail is much better. Unfortunately I do not know which of those sites could have caused it, but I'm sure it's not Dealextreme since many people (including myself) have bought from there and do not have a spam problem.

I have been getting a lot of e-mails in my g-mail lately trying to sell me some drug that will make me live to 150 or something lol.

There has been an increased amount of spam emails seeping through the inbox than it should. Hope GMAIL isn't f***ing up.

In the past 2 or 3 days I've been seeing increased spam too, not just seeping through, but also increased amounts in my spam folder

My gmail account is almost a year old, and amazingly I've never had one piece of spam slip through into my inbox. I open the spam folder and it's crazy as hell in there though lol.

Maybe there is some kind of security level in the filter that you can modify?

Out of those sites, the only one I have an account on is dealextreme. I don;t use gmail for everything, but I always use it for the important stuff because it always goes through. My hotmail account is basically a spam fest, so I register at all the forums/places I don't care about using that account.

It seems the spam has stopped.

I'm a bit absent minded, but i believe i unsubscribed to something in the last couple of days. I guess maybe they weren't spam. Although I'm sure that by law, email "marketting" requires an unsubscribe link, otherwise, they're considered spam.

Or perhaps Google managed to fix their spam rules.

Either way, no more spam again.

Recently i have been having the same trouble. but google spams you more than anyone else so..... shit happens.

I have had my gmail account since when you needed to get invited, and it catches almost all of my spam, and I get a lot. make sure you report the spam that does get through.

Well it seems the filter is fixed again but it seems the influx of new spam is huge: I got 19k spam messages in my spambox (and gmail clears your spam every 30 days)

My spambox has 230 spam messages.

I guess it depends what spambots have your addy

I got a large influx of spam a few weeks ago when my spam went from about 14 per day to 100... I didn't think unsubscribing would help but surprisingly it did which was good... except those viagra spam emails which just lead to the viagra site they are so bloody annoying.

Yahoo mail is terrible but 98% of spam goes right into the spam folder

I swear, I get 30 spam messages a day and at least 80% of them are stuff like:

Re: Larger penisfor only 5.95
Rock her world
All Natural Enlargement
Gain More Length

What is with this sh*t about dick enlargement?

I've got about 798 spam e-mails on my Gmail account but thankfully it filters it re-directs it into the spam folder

haha on one of my accounts I get 150-300 spams a day and thats normal. Its gmail and I get advertisements for like weed and penis enlargements and shit. One even told me that they would come to my house to personally enlarge mah dick...
