Hardware stripped screw on 3DS XL back case

Trying to fix my 3DS' ribbon cable, I accidental stripped one of the two screws on the back when screwing back on and now I can't re-open it.

Has this happened to anyone in the past?

Put a rubber band on it and then try to unscrew it.

As for exchange, quite probably not, as this doesn't fall under warranty due to being a 'user fault'
