I have switch here, which draws 0amps when turned off with the supplied Battery dead.

if I insert a working battery the console boots fine, and the console chargers normally.1.48 amps or something.

if I charge the dead battery with another switch it will charge the battery.( I don't want to charge the battery like this as I believe it will mask the fault untill it becomes depleted again.

I haven't changed m92 or anything yet, but I'm thinking there might be a problem with another IC.
fuel gauge?

also worth noting the right joycon doesn't make the snap animation but works fine? so I'm thinking it might be something to do with the powerrails?

Any help would be appreciated on this, as once I start this repair, I feel I will get in over my head.

cheers in advance

just to add, that with the switch in a powered off state if I connect a working battery and plug in the charger.

I don't get the usual 0.43 amps but the boot sequence is happening, and once the switch turns itself on then I get the normal 1.46 charge.

it's like it has a problem charging a battery in a powered off state.

think I'm going to look around bq fuel and m92

Sounds like a bad battery from probably being on the dock/always charging. Does the other battery that works also drain the same and give the same results? If so it's most likely an IC if not it's your battery.

It's not the battery, because tbh I bought this switch months ago, and I thought battery so I swapped it out, and thought I had it working.

the battery chargers normally in another switch aswell.

I updated my first comment with alittle bit more info

thanks for the reply

Are you using the provided charger? Is it plugged into an outlet or a power strip? Try OG charger and just an outlet in case it's a power strip or surge protector acting up. If not then you might need to replace the SMD IC on the top left.

Yeah I thought it might have something to do with bq, but there isn't any shorts around it.

I'm using a Xiaomi charger with a amp meter, but I have used a Nintendo usb c charger too.

when placed in the dock, the led flashes green.

thanks for your help anyway,

yeah most likely the IC then rip. As for your right rail, maybe gunked up or not lined right in the shell.
