Hacking Strange Problem with R4DS

Hello all,

yesterday my gf brought me her ds in order to update her R4DS with some new games.

The R4DS was checked and was working with no problems.
I deleted some roms and copied some new ones.
Also, I updated the system files with the latest firmware 1.18

When I placed the R4DS in the DS
I got the following screen....



Tried, putting back an older firmware, changed sd cards, formated and copied new fw to clean sd card.
Every time I keep getting the same screen

Is my R4DS dead? Does anyone have an idea about how to fix the problem?

Not sure what the problem is there, I can't read Korean, Chinese (or whatever it is).

Can only suggest to start fresh:
1. format microsd again
2. d/l english kernel 1.18 = http://www.r4ds.cn/download/r4.html#1
3. unrar contents onto microsd
4. put roms back on

Hey Plink, I Think Your R4DS is not dead because mine is not dead so maybe you should try the R4DS Custom Firmware 1.18 i am using. It Enables you to load 8 MB saves. For more information please continue to http://www.r4ds-forums.com/

You have a Chinese R4 rather than an English R4. Try installing the Chinese firmware and see if that works. If it does there's a English firmware patched to work on Chinese R4s in the Download Center.

someone suggested that on r4ds forums,
I tried loading the korean 1.18 kernel but I got the same error message.

Also, tried it with newly formatted sd.
Tried 2 different sd cards...

problem persists

and the worst thing is...that because my gf left for vacations today and needed her ds...i had to give her my own R4DS ...and now i'm stuck with no DS :S ...no korg-ds :S ....

Try the Chinese firmware, not the Korean one. The error message is the standard when you get when you try to run a non-Chinese firmware on a Chinese R4.

I found the chines firmware on the linfox domain site...and it worked

I'm sure you'll find the Chinese 1.18 patched to English in the downloads section in this forum. Just look in the R4 section.

I tried to patch it myself and didnt work.

I also downloaded the patched file from this forum but also didn't work

Dunno what else to do ...i'm afraid i will have to use the chinese version :S

there's at least 3 diff patched files I saw in the downloads section. try them all.
