Hello!

Hope this is the right place to post this :)

So I have Windows 7, and my computer updated recently. Since then, two strange applications have been trying to do random stuff:

'Windows Compability Advisor Inventory Tool' (Yes, there is a typo in 'compatibility') and
'Application Block Detector'

Which ZoneAlarm tells me wants to load random drivers.

I've had a quick Google, and I think they might be tied to Microsoft? But I don't know... it just seems really suspicious. Malwarebytes and Avast are coming up clear. An Avast boot time scan fixed the issue for one day, but sadly it has returned now :(

I've had a look at my process list... and nothing seems amiss... so, does anyone have any ideas?

You should get HijackThis and do a scan to see everything that is loading. You can disable startup items, etc. with it but it is all manual and you need to research the items it finds. Try Spybot S&D and AVG also.
