He specifically asked for .sav files and obviously this won't work since JKSM requires a working homebrew launch which he is trying to attempt for....thus a catch 22, unless someone provides him, or for that matter, me as well(which is why I'm replying here), a valid prehaxed .sav file for my StarGate 3DS cart, please; and I have no intentions of installing custom firmware on my 3DS XL unit - so you're CFW save file format, unfortunately, won't work for me...

My game is the Europe version if that matters, in case there are regional differences betweeen the USA and Europe....

EDIT: Oh I see, I can't quote posts that have hyperlinks in them...:shy::blush::huh::unsure:

Editx: Maybe because he's using a Gateway cart to load he's backed up games on...?

Nope, he said that he had CFW in his 2DS (read OP properly please), then the .SAV wasn't gonna help you sassy ASCII artist, because he can install JKSM as a .CIA and inject the provided save file for Sticker Star that way. Also, .SAV files doesn't work with CFW because the flashcard encrypts them, and without a... well, a flashcard and the private footer used, you cannot decrypt the files to the JKSM save type.
Now, almost nobody use flashcards anymore for the 3DS, so I cannot find any save that pleases your needs. Also, you cannot use a save designed for a US region game in flashcards because the saves are region-locked, so you must use a EU region save for that matter.

...oh yes.....my bad.....I read too fast...:rofl2::P

Well I have the game on a flashcart, dunno where to get the private footer though for JKSM to convert your (I'm guessing CIA files) to .sav file.....so that I can load it via cart rather than CFW hax....?

Ah, so regional carts do matter to some extent....

...so what; it's a catch 22 until someone can provide me a valid prehaxed .sav file for EUR region game?

Any other game that could be exploited?
Cubic Ninja (JPN)? The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D? Freakyform Deluxe? Steel Diver: Sub Wars? That's all the games that remain unpatched to primary and secondary exploits, and as far as I remember, are almost the same method as Paper Mario: Sticker Star to get homebrew: injecting a save.
If you have any, I could search... maybe we're lucky and we could find a save.
Also...
What's your objective with homebrew? Installing CFW? Or using regular userland homebrew?

I tried Freakyform Deluxe - it works(ish, sometimes gives me a yellow screen of death or a black screen of death....probably because I'm using an outdated otherapp.bin payload since there doesn't appear to be one for 11.8.0-41E firmware on the homebrew website....), but won't let try the stickerhax since I need that game installed(I presume it probably needs to access the cart reader or SD card with the game installed but don't have the game on SD card and Freakyform Deluxe is using the cart slot...I guess I *could* switch the games blindly and see if that works.... Nope doesn't work in homebrew mode...)......so.....best bet would have to use Freakyhax s primary and save the game onto SD card so it shows on home menu and can launch whenever since it's not cart dependent and have paper mario sticker on cart for the hax.....or could have both on sd card somehow..... I have the .3ds game file and their respective .sav file, where do I insert this on the SD card, what directory? Or does it need to be converted first so that the 3DS system can read the file and show on home menu screen?

Just regular userland homebrew. Wanted to use the coin setter mod(the 3DS has been cheating me on the number of steps I've taken, but caps at 10 a day, when I could have had 300 in one day maxed out but nope!^_^), but read that requires homebrew to work, so gave up because I couldn't be bothered! hahahaha After some time of playing Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Ultra Sun, I wanted to find a way to edit save files on my carts, found out it can only be done through CFW or homebrew using JKSM; this gave me enough motivation to bother with this homebrew stuff recently...hah...and that's the story.....

OK.
You should try with Steel Diver: Sub Wars.
Is free and is in the eShop to download. And you should follow this steps.
It's probably the best way to get homebrew right know, because is digital, no needs for any flashcard, and it's free.

I read it only works for v1.0.0 of the game, I have 4.1 or 4.2, and firmware no greater than 11.2, and I have 11.8...?

You must be confusing this with Steelhax.
Steelminer is the current free homebrew method to follow, and it cannot be for 11.2.0, because it came out in june of this year. Also, Steelminer is the first step of Frogminer, the latest free way to get CFW. So... it must work fine with the latest version of Steel Diver: Sub Wars.
I could try it... but I don't have a vanilla 3DS, and in CFW-ed 3DSs, this doesn't work at all.

EDIT: Delete the updates of Steel Diver: Sub Wars if you will be trying this. The updated game doesn't work, but it works in 11.8.0.
To do it, just follow this:
  1. Go to System Settings
  2. Data Management
  3. Select Nintendo 3DS
  4. Downloadable Data
  5. Select the Steel Diver: Sub Wars data
  6. Delete it

Ah yes you're right, my mistake, that was indeed for steelhax by iteself, not steelhax + steelminer which is different; I saw steelhax on the first word of the first sentence and then automatically remembered reading the restrictions from elsewhere and then came back to here to post about it! hahaha

Yeah no it doesn't work on version 4.1(the version I have), you're right....

Where's Downloadable Data? All I have is Software, Extra Data, Add-on Content and Save Data Backup options...

EDIT: It's in the Add-on Content option.

Ok so it works with the downgrade, I'm guessing v1.0 because there's no version number displayed...

Paper Mario Sticker Star hax still doesn't work though(even though I now have a valid .sav file thanks to an alternative entry point), gives me an error, see attachments - also provided a .sav file for anyone else who was looking; maybe it might work for their older firmware or something. I think in my case, it used an outdated(13-08-2017 compared to 18-6-2018 with the one I used for freakyhax - the yellow screen of death picture one) payload.bin(because steelminer mentions in its troubleshooting FAQ that could be the case for theirs, so it might be for this one too) the stickerhax downloaded, as shown in the attachments....just rename pics01.zip to pics.z01 and pics02.zip to pics02.zip to pics.z02 and extract or open the original pics.zip file because you can't upload larger than 9.75MB files, so had to split the file into three and they don't accept the split zip file formats either..... gah pics01.zip file isn't uploading...will try to attach in the next post...maybe you can only upload 3 files at once for a post? oh nevermind, it would appear it was glitched and it had been uploaded correctly....

Sorry, my 3DS isn't in english.
It should be Add-on Content.

Hmmm, After several attempts I somehow got the stickerhax working...attached is the .sav file used:

0238 - Paper Mario - Sticker Star (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es,It).sav
SHA256: 770476903adb59d6571c0f75fe5a29848bbdd227512f25b2f64b1cbfe358d644
128.0 KB ( 131072 bytes )

Because it seems to have finally decided to use the 18-6-2018 build of the payload......and that version works, as it works for the freakyhax method too.

Also on a side note, this corrupts any and all save files on the cart stickerhax is used on, so since I had FeakyForm Deluxe and played for a good while, racked up 10k coins and some accessories, all that's now corrupted; so will need to start from square one with zero coins and zero accessories....

Also another thing I notice, tested above statement and it would appear the save file that's on the cart is in fact NOT the actual save data used to load and save the games on them......which may very well mean the save file I uploaded for Paper Mario Sticker Star might not be the one you need to make it work.....but I'll upload it anyway, maybe it could be some use...

I'll have to hunt this file down somewhere on the SD card......maybe report back if I do....or not... :)

Ok, I think I know what's going on.... I've find that if you delete the prehaxed save file within the game it's gone for good, even if you had a prebackup of the .sav elsewhere that you know(or thought presuming you were like me when I started out) still has that haxed save slot in, and then replace it, the game will still think you have already deleted that save slot even though it's a different file. That means the haxed save slot is NOT saved in the cart's .sav file but most likely in the SD card's or where else has it gone?

Now the only thing that's been added to the SD card is a file called screenshots_raw.bin (nothing else has changed...supposedly...) and this appears to be (or may coz I'm not 100% sure) where the haxed save slot is at as well as where the payload data is in....if you delete this file and go back to ingame the haxed save slot is still there, so either this file gets recreated when you delete it on PC and then stick your SD card back into the 3DS or the *actual actual* location is *not* this file... But I stuck it back in and the file re-appeared, so that means it got recreated when you launch the game....

So I'm going to upload these two files, the cart's .sav file in case that's actually needed and the bin file, which I presume is where the payload is in and the actual save slot file in; hopefully this helps someone.

0238 - Paper Mario - Sticker Star (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es,It).sav >> in case it's needed...

screenshots_raw.bin >> Presumably where the actual save slot file is at along with payload data

Now, on another note, the 3DS seems to create save files on the SD card and sort/organize them into what presumably is origin of the game file or and cart id. So if you have say a Gateway or a StarGate 3DS nd have more than one game on it, th save files are shared amongst all of that in one folder under a number(apparently 8 = binary?) value, or so it appears to be. In my case, that directory is here: "G:\Nintendo 3DS\c5e71348fb5c085c050601ebe93ed241\e4bf00c83110b02b3030303000284245\extdata\00000000". Now this is equivalent to going to System Settings > Data Management > Nintendo 3DS > Extra Data and then checking or deleting the saves here.

Now why it corrupts other game saves is because the hack fails to create placeholder .sav files under, in my case again, "G:\Nintendo 3DS\c5e71348fb5c085c050601ebe93ed241\e4bf00c83110b02b3030303000284245\extdata\00000000\00000933\00000000\" directory which is where my StarGate 3DS seems to keep it's save files. I tested my Pokemon Ultra Sun cart and the save there was unaffected, so that may mean this folder is exclusively for that specific cart. Had it create these placeholders, other games on the cart won't overwrite the location and steal its "spot" and thus corrupting the haxed save slot which is apparently located in the bin file but is somehow linked back to this folder should anything change. So if say freakyform deluxe decide to save, and since it's in the same cart as where paper mario booted from, it will also save in the same spot but since stickerhax doesn't create placeholder .sav files, freakyform deluxe creates their own and places it in there and since stickerhax assumes the directory to be empty, but isn't anymore thanks to freakyform deluxe, it will say your saves are corrupt and will erase everything.

Also, apparently there may be a limited number of files for this save directory which may mean you won't be able to load more than a few games and save together.... Oh and if you decided to delete an entry via Extra Data in 3DS, that will wipe all other save files that are in there even if they have separate entries themselves in Extra Data menu.

============================
So to sum it up, thanks to E1ite007, I now have access to Homebrew using Steelminer and also able to use StickerHax which also works for firmware 11.8.0-41E, despite using an older payload for 11.7.0-41E(according to this: because the same payload works). Don't try StickerHax on a shared cart(like a Gateway or StarGate 3DS), not unless you only intend to use only one game on it and that game happens to be Paper Mario Sticker Star, or have intentions of using more than one shared cart(they might use a different save folder for each), one of which is dedicated to this task - just no please; either on a separate dedicated cart or eshop/preinstalled on home menu, they should be enough to have their own separate save folder. Attached should be the cart's .sav file and payload data with the actual save slot haxed for 11.7.0-41E(should work on this because that's the payload's designated firmware as there is none for the later 11.8 or maybe there is no need which is why there isn't one for 11.8?) and 11.8.0-41E firmwares - that should hopefully be a shortcut to those who can't or don't have a primary method (and or don't want to get into CFW) to get into homebrew because you first need to get into homebrew to even to get this stickerhax working, therefore a catch 22...

PEACE! B-):yay3ds:
