That's so odd... I did that for Ultra Moon first and it kept telling me the save was corrupted.
Then I converted to card2 first and then skipped the AP check, that got rid of the corrupted save problem.

Edit: Now I'm just lost. Did AP check first, then card2 and it worked for Ultra Sun. Yet Ultra Moon I had to do the opposite?
card 2 conversion is weird, I know with ocarina of time the program gives it an offset that doesn't work and complains about save corruption. but if I expand the rom to 1GB and fill it with empty bytes, with the same offset, it works fine. I wasnt able to make it work without expanding the rom even if I tried manually giving it an offset earlier in the rom

you would think, maybe that means the offset tries to save all the way outside of the actual rom area, so expanding the rom gives it space. but no, it doesn't. the save doesnt even reach the end of the original rom size. for some reason adding even more empty space at the end makes it work

I play ultra sun so maybe that's why I didn't get that problem. ultra moon might just be slightly different. at least you figured out a way to make it work, maybe it's better to do it your way, and convert to card 2 first and then remove the AP second. there might be other games that dont like it if you do it the other way

I'm curious if anyone who has this card has seen if sun and moon will run unpatched now?

There was an update after the last post here, on Oct 30th, 2025. According to the product website.

I'm setting mine up tomorrow, I just wanted to know how much of a challenge I should expect if I want them to run. If anyone knows, please let me know.

so I found out there isn't an update.

and I ordered this cart originally for my 3DS, yet since it came I got a japanese new 3ds ll I was hoping to use it with. Turns out that, despite the website saying it works with every region and homebrew, it will still be region locked (to USA games) so I'm just going to install cfw.

I bought the N3DS expecting this outcome, so it's not a huge deal, but kind of a bummer. I was hoping to use the card between the two systems without modding one.

I'm at the point where I'm extracting and about to load the card.

Wish me luck!

It works, region should match of a game and console IF you not use cfw. Homebrew for cfw
Because 3ds region locked

You can buy the Stargate from AliExpress; however, just bear in mind, that, the ones sold there do not hold the save onto the cartridge as it's being loaded from the microSD card, so you risk overwriting what was on it.

And yes, it will run on pretty much any console, so long as the region matches to what region it's using, not without the use of custom firmware which defeats the purpose of using the Stargate 3DS.

I'm guessing it simply loads boot.firm from the console SD card, but I haven't tried it myself. I'm just explaining what's described in the readmes.
Correct. When booting into ntrboot, it launches the "boot.firm" file from the console's SD card. You do not need to do anything else to it.
