Which do you think is more worth it? I'm aware that FF14 has a monthly payment, and due to school, I'll probably only pay for months I'm on vacation. For Starcraft 2 I'll probably only play on weekends or vacation as well. What would you do?

I'd get Starcraft 2. I'm not a really a fan of Final Fantasy anymore. That's just my opinion though.

Well anyway, if you like strategy games more, go for Starkcraft. If you like MMOs better, go for FFXIV.

Both games are kind of hard to compare hah. But if you aren't going to be playing much on a P2P game, then you'll end up regretting wasting that $10-20 dollars for that session

SC2 still has a huge player base and is only a one time cost.
I'd go with SC2 (but then again, I like SC2 more than FF haha).

I'd skip on both of them and go with a 3rd option. final fantasy is ok, if you're really into japanese MMOs go for it. But starcraft 2..... Activision-Blizzard needs to die a painful death.

Shouldn't judge a game by its publisher

Go with Starcraft 2, with those custom maps, it'll still be played ten years later like Starcraft I.

activision-blizzard is who gets the money when you buy starcraft 2.
they shouldn't get any more money.

edit: and they are not just the publisher, they are also the developer

Why? Every game company deserves money, even if you hate them (for no good reason) not everyone should stop buying from them.

I won't go into the details here, but its with good reason. battle.net accounts are horribly insecure and their support on those issues is mostly nonexistant.

Ive gotten great support and never had any of my accounts compromised on any of their games Ive played, I guess it can vary from person to person.

I think that makes us both wrong O.o

Aw come on? Just because Blizzard helped make one of the most overrated MMOs (imo

), they did help to dev some of the finest games.

Who else is psyched about Diablo too?

If you have an odd schedule, then go with Starcraft 2. You can work through the single-player campaign whenever you want, and the multiplayer matches usually last less than 30 minutes. If I were you, I don't think I'd invest time into a game where I would have to unsubscribe for long periods of time.

If you get Final Fantasy and a subscription, you're going to feel like you have to play it a lot or you're wasting your money. With Starcraft 2, it's always there.

Plus, the new Battle.net is crazying awesome! Have you seen the features yet?

Final Fantasy XIV for Immersion in a huge, pretty game world
Starcraft II for Pickup games and random fun.

Edit: Starcraft II > Final Fantasy XIV, Reason...Casual Pickup Gaming > Commitment gaming. Happy?

do you even have to ask?
starcraft 2 is the epic game we've been waiting for 12 years
final fantasy 14...well....you can tell from the game's name that we've had enough with those goddamn moogles.

concerning the battle net accounts.
yes my account was compromised by someone about 2 months ago but customer support was awesome!
they somehow found out that my account had been hacked and locked it shut without me even asking them!
send them everything they wanted and my account was active again 2 days.

that's some good support right there...
