Star Fox is one of those things.maybe star fox will never come back.

It made a huge splash on the SNES because of the SuperFX chip, and it was a genuinely fun game, even at 15fps. Star Fox 64 was a solid sequel that helped round out the N64's library. I can understand how changes in the industry made it more difficult to keep the franchise going, since that cutting edge hook is gone. Half-Life has a similar problem.
Smash Bros. does a huge service for franchises like Kid Icarus, Earthbound, and Star Fox because they'd become more obscure without it. Smash Bros. makes it easier for Nintendo to retain the rights too.
