I do feel like will find a way to backup the GC NSO! Its really not any different from the others aside from it will only be exclusive from the Eshop but if we backed it up it will work on the oled and v1 in def ! GC is really the only thing i'm interested in we get a backup of that and will be able to load any rom in there just like we can now for the other NSO's that are out!

No the switch 2's Hardware is to different to just run it on a switch 1. Plus the switch 1 is not powerful enough to run gc with a emulator well

With any new console there is, it opens so many possibilities. For the Switch 2, I'm thinking it may be possible to tamper with the virtual gamecard (copying games to other systems as opposed to the physical card) by hijacking the connection. It uses a WiFi connection, so perhaps hacks, or roms can be loaded that way, or the file can be downloaded onto a phone. Imagine being able to connect to your switch using a phone application that has the same WiFi ID as a switch, and sending ROMs that way. Theoretically, you'd also be able to download the rom by flipping it around. I also suppose that since the games will use similar software, emulation will be relatively easy. I'm guessing that Nintendo probably made hard-modding more difficult, so an exploit might be the way to go.

Virtual Game Cards are just a fancy name for moving the license around. It requires an internet connection to do so (since the license is sent over the internet, not locally), and the actual game data is still downloaded from Nintendo's servers. There is a lot of verification in the process so you can't simply insert fake data without the system noticing.

My mistake. I believed the system went offline, and used a p2p connection to transfer the software.

As a modder and hacker, I really think a softmod will suffice before a chip.
Ninty is on chip makers like stink on shit!
Also by the sounds of it, the switch 2 would have remain offline until a workaround from ninty servers can be blocked 100% sure. I don't imagine there being a ban wave for switch 2's running "illegal" content, I see a brick wave coming!

Wow no yawn emoji. Okay.

So, speculating on horizonos 21. With all of this security stuff like "assume unsecure BPMP but add TZ", "no hopes no dreams for code execution", "execute-only memory present", etc..
are all of us like that hopeless? I agree doing a switch 1 move would be ridiculous (and we probably should consider that the xbox one (can someone help me a bit w/ that?)+ps5 are softmoddable at best), but if the stars align, what stops us?

What I'm saying is "do anything". Okay, bootrom will be patched, sure (knowing Nintendo's history with that I'd be more optimistic). External media will probably be secure. So on so forth, everything is patched. Except for whatever small thing that could just be unpatched.

My point is:
Why not try to do some userland homebrew? Anything basic? A snake game that I don't have to pay for (XD) will be nice.
The 3ds had to start with that (and even then piracy mostly, but still, ninjhax escalated from a title). The wii u started with that.
If we consider that puyopuyo demo at 34c3, it also gives me a bit of hope. Why not make something in the browser?
If horizon was reversed A-Z, then I guess the browser was reversed too. Is there like absolutely nothing? Not even within the limits? Of course the limits don't assume a "usable web browser environment" or web development, of course not.

Sorry man this is 2025, 70 bucks minimum for a snake game
