It appears that the AI-generating video app created by OpenAI called Sora is shutting down after fifteen months of being in service. This seems to be in relation to a deal between Disney and OpenAI where Disney cancelled their partnership with them regarding making ai-generated videos featuring the characters from various Disney dontent.

As someone who recognizes that there is a valid use for generative AI, I can not think of one genuine use case for AI generated videos. I see this as a win

I have seen the odd thing here and there which popped up on my Youtube feed, where I don't think the uploader would realistically be able to make anything close to the same content but the core premise is a cheap joke/laugh, in one case a channel litterally called "British Brainrot"....but even then it has a feeling of cheapness to it thanks to it being AI generated and falls into 'uncanney valley', to the point I could tell it was AI before confirming it.

The more I see of AI generated content, the more it actually puts me off wanting to use it myself and thinking 'oh no, anyway' upon reading this news.

Sora is Shutting Down has definitely caught attention, and many users are now looking at alternatives like Script Hoho Hub for fresh updates and resources.
I saw something like this the other day! Can someone explain to me the point of bots coming into a site like this to post this kind of message? There's no sale, no scam, no significant userbase to take advantage of...

I thought OpenAI completely stopped doing business with the public and became a subsidiary of the DoD, but I guess they still had some services ongoing.

MicroSlop™ Co-pilot is next.
Speaking of Microsoft Copilot, I wonder if anyone has ever used that software compared to the other LLMs out there. I remember using it back when it was in its infancy, but stopped cause for some reason I genuinely disliked using it, and putting it on the bottom tier of the least helpful LLMs with it being second place to Google Bar- I mean Gemini.

Honestly, I don't mind generative AI, it can be useful for some quick tasks, the amount of stuff that is simply made with AI on Youtube however, is a bit worrisome.
I sometimes use short videos with moral lessons to show kids in catechesis classes, all the videos recommended by youtube are AI crap with tons of views, the good, older videos made the old school way are hidden and very hard to find.

Despite not being much against it in the past, I'm growing averse of AI with each passing day.

I am entirely against AI for being zero effort. These people who think that generative and other forms of AI is a good thing should reconsider the thing above their neck as to why human art and other work shows true creativity and how it can land them to success. I'm glad that companies are finally waking up to realize that AI is not worth saving for their longetivity in the industry.

This is the natural process; not everyone will survive, but that doesn't mean AI is dead.

Netscape was one of the first web browsers, although it died, there are still applications of its kind today.

I use it for simple question about places that I saw on youtube, asking price of stuff, currency conversion, some ifixit guides etc. Stuff that you can find on google and reddit but it is just faster to ask copilot.
It's already there, it is free. Why download another one? With new login acc and whatnot?
It doesn't have personality, It can't remember your name other than your account name, it is not very good at drawing or create a chart, but it can do basic stuff that you are too lazy to search in internet which is pretty helpful.
