Honestly, I think that ToS's and EULA's etc. should be void in a court of law seeing as no one reads those fucking 50 page piles of boredom.

If you dont read it then thats YOUR fault isnt it?
They provide them to be read by you, you even agreed to reading them.
The reason they are that long is because it contains a lot of legal mumbo jumbo which is neccesary to make the thing legal and thus usefull

Except with all of that legal mumbo jumbo, nobody can really understand it unless you actually know a thing or two about law. And while a lot of people post thinking that they do, nobody really does unless you're in law school or took a course on it. It's like documents on a car and all that stuff. They word it so bad and confusing that it's basically entrapment.

Im not saying they make sense, all Im saying is that a ToS and an EULA are there for a reason.
I myself read every contract to the letter and if I have questions about what something means I ask the company or a friend who goes to law school.
Do people realize that a simple typo can make an entire EULA invalid? A simple missing of punctuation or lack of capitalletters?

Oh I know they're there for a reason. But be honest, most people who play their consoles, don't know the first thing about the ToS or EULA is stating. Nobody understands it. And nobody wants to sit on the phone for hours listening to someone who can barely speak english, describe each little thing. I know it's there to protect Sony's ass, but it fucks over the consumer as most people think it means "don't do this, don't do that, don't do this or that", because that's what the thing sounds like when someone reads it. They should revise it, every company should, revise it to make it clear, that even a 5th grader can understand it.

Definetly agree, I never paid attention until I started working for firms that used a PDS (Product Disclosure Statement) and knew how many people were getting fucked over lol
Revision isnt possible I think, maybe a bit not worth the effort. They should finish it with a TL;DR version, but this has to be legal aswel but thats up to the countries and not Sony

Calm down, it's banning people who are using devices to hack their system and most likely pirate for it. Don't give me bullshit on "BUT PEOPLE ONLY USE IT FOR HOMEBREW!" Everyone knows that like 99% of the people who hack their PS3 do so to pirate something for it. I don't see kids crying over their bans, it's their fault. If you hacked your system you have to live with the risks of being banned.

In the UK it is legal, and even been encouraged, to write these things in "plain English" as well as legalise. You still get the "proper" contract, but they are not allowed to hide stuff in there that they don't explain properly in the non-lawyer version. I think there are some situations where they have to too, new contracts with TelCo's etc.

i honestly wouldn't have a problem if it werent for the cheaters
lets say i feel kind of robbed when i paid 60$ for MW2, and then a blew another 30$ on DLC and i cant enjoy this game anymore
even though its more of a Developer issue, i still actually support sony in what thy are doing here, again ppl agreed to their TOS - its not as if they didn't tell us so.

Online cheating scum are the reason I support Sony on this one. MW2 is ruined and I've only just started on Black Ops (£43!!!!)
I cringe when I see posts about 'new, easier method to circumvent...bla bla bla PS3' because it will inevitably lead to more kids with aimbots etc.

A lot of the online cheats have been going on long before Christmas. Totally agree they should deal with online cheats and pirates (come on people, piracy might not be theft, but going on their servers with that pirated game is at least trespass), but cause has to proceed effect.

EDIT: And got to admit it was terribly nice of them to give people warnings and a chance to reform. They could have really taken the moral high ground with that one. Maybe trying to improve PR?

That's what makes these things such hard work for anyone to understand, even for a law professional. What chance has even the knowledgeable layman got? I was just pointing out there can be alternative ways. These ideas won't get put into international treaties and agreements because they protect consumers instead of empowering corporations so you'll have to fight for them in each area. If it happens in enough places it will just be how business gets done...

I fully agree, these things should be more handy. I reckon a good place to start is the EU. Put the idea forward and they might be able to do something with it. I know soeone who works there so Im going to ask where to put suggestions sorta speak

if its only blocking u from PSN then its worth it... u have no reason to not to buy a game if u live in a country where the internet is fast (i am mentioning internet speed as a criteria for how well off people are) since we here have an average of around 256 to 512 Kbps internet speed hence we dont even expect to get 99% of the games released... only the big names like fifa

That has nothing to do with these hacks at all. Pretty much ever since MW1, the CoD have had broken online service since day 1.
