Thanks pony girl...but, I have a friend who says she was forced to update, to v2.2.0-4 it seems, if you already are running that version though, it will not ask you to update.

actually i think this is the only good sonic game to come, it looks like it will be the first one that is not generic,
id much rater have mario though, not sure if i will like the side scrolling or semi side scroller format though, i kinda do wish it was more of an open level design like 64 was

Since everyone has turned this into a Mario topic...I will only say I loved it as a kid, I still hold respect for the amazing SNES games, but afterward it just wasn't as fun anymore...and like any other of Nintendo's franchises, it's being milked to death...I will say even though I don't like the series at all anymore...I'd say it's in a much better condition than Pokemon right now...COUGH PokePark 1-2, Pokemon rumble 1-2, Battle Revolution COUGH, and still no signs of a real game for 3DS...and no comment on the Wii U...Nintendo just isn't for me anymore. And if anyone's getting worked up over my opinions, then I'd love to see you blow up in the next comments lol

3d land is a really good game. Generations 3ds, however.... Not so good. I mean it's ok I'm sure you'll like it, sonic is your avatar. It feels just as rushed as it was. notin the good, sonic way, in the oh crap we have a contractual obligation to fulfill. Slap a sonic game together , guys. Make it release soon after the console version, so as to capitalize on its reviews, kinda way. Give 3d land a chance. Is there a store that sells used game and allows returns available?

I bought this yesterday and played it before I put Super Mario 3D Land and it didn't contain any update so you're ok with this game.

Generations is the first Sonic game to look decent in a very long time.

It doesn't force you to update but you have to update if you want to play the mario game. You don't need the update for any other game.
